This Speedster was originallybuilt by one of the leading Speedster replica builders, and then Professionally upgraded and sorted by us, Fibersteel.Fibersteel has been in the business of fabricating 356 and 550 Spyder cars and parts for nearly 20 years. We have thoroughlygone through this car, made improvements and maintained it for the current owner since he purchasedit back in 2010.
Here we have a replica of a 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster. The floor pan, suspension and drivetrainwas completely refurbished when this car was turned from a regular 1964 VW Beetle to this Awesome Speedster replica (14K miles ago).
We reinforced the pan and steel body cage to eliminate those door gap problems and body flex issues usually associated with "Home Built" kit cars.This Speedster will impress you with it's smooth ride, tight handling and absenceof hokey workmanship, squeaksrattles and noises.When you buy this car, you will be satisfied that everything works, and works well. The handling, acceleration and braking are exactly how they should be. You won't need to sink money and time into this Speedster.
The Engine is a very strong 1915cc with dual Weber carburetors giving it fast pedal response, great pull and gas mileage, it's really fun to drive! The transmission shifts smooth as butter and the clutch pedal is super soft, making this a real daily driver. The front brakes are original VW Disc brakes and the rears are original VW drum, giving you a solid pedal with minimal effort and great stopping power.
There is also a modern sound system with separate amp and woofers. Includes a stereoremote control for easy adjustment. There is also a 12v outlet for cell phone charging. The upgraded Fibersteel heat system blows plenty of hot air into the cab and onto the windshield defrosters, for those cold days.
This Speedster is painted in an awesome vanilla color with tan leatheretteinterior. The rear engine deck lid is louvered in the Carrera Style for added ventilation, helping this car run nice and cool. Everything works, just needs to be driven and enjoyed. This Speedster was built to be reliable and fun.
Color matching rims with almost new Pirelli P4 (P205/65R15) tires gives you great handling and stoppingpower. Custom made Magnaflow style muffler with correct chrome tailpipes, gives this car a smooth yet deep sound.
Other features includecustom black and tan Coco mats. Electric fuel pump with fuel pressure regulator. No maintenance Electronic ignition. Ivory Banjo steering wheel with correct Porsche horn button. Full Porsche badging. Correct bumper and side deco trim. Tan canvas top with matching side windows (plus storage pouch) and top boot. Chrome head light grills. KYB Gas shocks, front sway bar, widened front and rear track.Also includes car cover, gas filler no-spill bib. Easy height adjustable front and rear suspension.
When people ask me why is there such a price difference in Speedster replicas,I always tell them that most replicas look the same on the computer screen, but if it's not a professionally built and sorted replica, they should really take the time to see the car in person, open and close doors, take it for a good test drive. Over train tracks, bumps and dips. If it rattles and rolls, it's probably not a professional build, walk away...
