This car was purchased in San Diego, CA back in 2008, I was hoping to restore it as a father and son project. Most everything is there. Missing are: radio/speakers, spare tire, one of the targa release latches, the original hood ornament, owner's manual and tool kit. I will include new vinyl (from Intl Auto's) to recover the targa top. 3 door pockets are there but in bad shape.
As a precaution, I started to replace the timing chain tensioners but never finished the job. I have the more reliable turbo timing chain tensioners (vs the less reliable carrera oil fed) ready to install.
I also started to strip the paint off the hood to see the extent of some rust I saw bubbling around where the hood crest would be. You can see this in the photo. It's not too bad. Shiny spots are metal. The dark grey areas are original primer.
In addition to the hood, there are a few bubbles of rust here and there. The worst is on top of the front bumper passenger side right. I included a photo of the area-it's forward of the passenger side headlight below the horn grille area.
The other rust areas are: passenger side door in the lower forward corner area located by the lower hinge. The inside under side of that door shows no rust at all. A little bit of surface rust on the driver side door on top where the chrome molding window seal meets the window.
As you can see in the pictures, the paint on the sides of the car is in pretty good shape. It's the top of the car, especially the rear, where the paint cracked badly.
Underside pan is super clean. No rust. Both battery boxes are rust free.
When I bought the car, the engine ran fine but we had to pour gas directly into the zenith carbs to run it. There was a problem getting fuel to the engine. So I brought the car to the shop and they rebuilt the carbs but before they completed hooking up the fuel system I had to take the car back (long story). I had the car brought to my house via flat bed and she's been here since.
I will also be listing the car locally as well as other places.
