Description for Porsche 911 1980
A beautiful combination of Porsche heritage and tasteful upgrades in this Northern California car. Matching numbers car with 191,000 miles. Fantastic weekend car for your open air touring needs. Rides and drives very well with smooth gear transitions and tight steering. I purchased the car three years ago after the old owner had the car repainted in a very nice original light blue. The original interior(cork) had been weather damaged and really brought down the overall appearanceso I had all the seats and the dash recovered(white/cream) and also all new carpeting installed.I wanted to be a little creative with this car (sorry purists) in lieu keeping it purely stock so I added the RUF yellowbird style front air dam(still have original air dam), rear bumper and side spoilers which were painted in an accenting slightly darker shade of blue. The targa bar was stripped down to the stainless and complimentary headlight rings were added. Off stock interior improvements were added including a complimentary white steering wheel, aluminum door handles and Polk speakers. I intentionallyleft off the door pockets(have one if not both original pockets) because they would detract from the new interior in my opinion.Tires are very fresh and wheelsare in very better than good condition. The car draws attention where ever it goes. A few items to mention still remaining on the to-do list...The targa top should be restored. It has seen better days cosmetically speaking but also needs be re-welded where it broke. For me this was not an issue because the car was only used on summer days and was garaged when not in use. The rear deck should be reworked. The vinyl is new and in great shape. The deck however needs to be replaced or perhaps reworked with some fiberglass reinforcing. It is not laying well and hence the vinyl is not laying smooth enough given the right appearance. The driver side door has a 1/2" issue with the clear coat and the hood had a small bubble in the paint along the hood crease. Neither are noticeable beyond 10 feet. There is a small oil leak that originates from the valve cover. Over a one month period a piece of cardboard shows a 10" circumfrence spot. It was identified by my Porsche specialist as originating from the VCs but I have not had it fixed as yet. He said it was not a big deal. I am happy to discuss the car further or send additional pictures if necessary. I am a PCA member and have owned more that 15 air cooled cars over the last 25 years. In my opinion this car would represent a great second, third, or weekend car for most enthusiasts as it is. Attending to previously mentioned items would only add to the ownership experience.
