Description for Porsche 911 1967
This 1967 Porsche 911 has 90k miles and is a 3 owner example powered by its matching numbers 2.0 liter flat-six and 5-speed manual gearbox. The car was purchased in Rome, New York with 8k miles by the second owner, who kept it registered and inspected from 1968 until 1990. The previous owner performed a major service to make it roadworthy. Work included a replacement fuel tank, new shocks, lower ball joints, shock mounts, brake overhaul, shifter assembly rebuild, tune-up, and new Pirelli tires. This short-wheelbase 911 is being offered with extensive documentation, a factory tool kit, and a clean title. The Irish Green (6606) exterior received a repaint at some point in the past, and paint meter readings taken from over 20 places indicate thickness between 8-10 mils.
The brown leatherette interior shows some discoloration on the lower half of the seats, while some separation around the top seam on the driver’s side is also present. The pedal cluster was re-bushed and overhauled by the previous owner, as was the shifter assembly. Both the driver’s and passenger’s roll-up windows are moving freely, and the original Talbot rear-view mirror is present. The headliner and original sun-visors look to be well preserved.
The brushed aluminum dash fascia looks to be straight, and the 911 glove box insignia is still present. 1967 was the last year for the green lettered gauges, and on this car the clock is currently inoperable, though the remaining 4 gauges are all working properly. The original Becker Mexico radio remains in the dash, but the antennae appears to missing its mast.
The factory solid rotors have been changed to vented rotors and appropriate calipers. The previous owner went through the brake system, installing a new master cylinder, pads, and hoses. The front axles were also rebuilt and new lower ball joints have been installed. Rear shocks and front strut inserts have been replaced, along with the shock mounts. The 15'' steel wheels wear new Pirelli Cinturato reproduction tires. Included with the sale is a notebook filled with mileage and recorded fuel consumption going all the way back to 1968. Service documents show that the previous owner maintained the car diligently.
The original 901/06 case appears to wear later model cast iron barrels and a compression test performed by the previous owner in 2014 indicated a 140 psi across all cylinders. The motor retains its original style cam chain tensioner, and the original finned style lower valve covers are also present.
Receipts indicate that in 1968 with only 8k miles, the second owner had the undercarriage sprayed with Zeitbart rust preventive treatment.
Indicated by ‘911~~S 66’ on the front vin-tag, the original Webasto auxiliary blower is located in the front compartment and operational.
The 1968 bill of sale from McLoughlin Motors in Rome, New York to the second owner is included in the sale.
Included with the sale is the original owner’s booklet containing, original driver’s manual, factory tool kit, extensive service records from 1967 to 1990, aforementioned logbook, and a spare Delta Products CD ignition module in the original packaging.
