This auction is for a brand new, just completed 2019 Badel Spyder #12 (Juan Badel- builder and seller). This car is part of a series of 3 built in 2018/2019, and particularly he only long tail built, so 1 of 1 of a kind body style.
Over 1000 hours of work have been invested in this car and it is ready for sale. We usually sell our cars as commissions, and there is a long wait period, so this is a great opportunity to buy one of our cars immediately.
The car is located in our facility in Villa de Leyva, Colombia. We will arrange shipping to buyer, at buyers cost. Other cars we have shipped by plane to continental USA have been around USD 5500 for shipping. A firm quote will be given before shipment.
Previous costumers have registered our cars as VW Beetles in the US and UK, but each state varies its policies in this regard, so please become familiar with them before bidding.
Specifications:
Body: .050 3003 H14 Hand formed aluminum, oxy acetylene welded. Sanded and finished to semi mirror polish.
Chassis: Hand made, custom tubular chassis.
Front suspension: link and king pin 1955 VW type 1.
Rear suspension: Non jacking, zero roll. Central monoshock, derived from Fromula vee. Penske 7500 Coil over.
Transaxle and shifter: Vw type 1 swing axle. Cableshift custom type 1 (Brandwood C-S VT-1) shifter.
Brakes: VW type 1 drums all around. Hydraulic pedals for brakes and clutch.
Fuel tank: Aluminum with in hood Porsche neck and cap.
Engine: The car will be delivered with a 1600 cc VW type 1 engine. Single carb. This is a used, mild engine we install for testing the cars. Also delivered with in house made 4 to 1 exhaust.
Other items: Aluminum bomber seats, Aluminum tonneau cover, aluminum headrest, single windshield. 1955 VW speedometer. Racing style aluminum headlights, easily replaceable by functional headlight. Reproduction Porsche 356 beehive turnsignals and stop lights. Fibresteel Custom 550 Spyder Pedestal Mirror- Dash Mount. 1955 VW sealed wheels with Limacaucho high profile, vintage style tires.

This is not a replica or a kit car. This is an original, one of a kind car, finished in 2019 with the spirit and techniques of 1950. Every car is entirely made by hand, one at a time.
These cars are a wonderful addition to a collection which already includes 911 and 356 Porsches, since it traces back to their origins: hand built alloy racers using the early vw parts.
Every car is different and improved to the previous one, including the body shape. Some of the pictures are of cars in progress.
