Over the past fifty years, one of the most recognizable race liveries has been that of Martini & Rossi. Gracing everything from Lancia rally cars to the 2014 Williams F1 car, the design motif of this beverage company has had staying power. This car, the 1977 Porsche 924 Martini & Rossi Edition was meant to commemorate the victories of the Porsche 935 and 936 in 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1976. Known as the M426 option, the Martini & Rossi 924 included white alloy wheels complimented by the aforementioned exterior graphics, front and rear sway bars and an interior with red carpeting, special fabric inlays on the seats and a plaque on the center console to remind you that you were piloting a special 924. Only 3000 of these were built with 2000 going to the American market.
Up for sale is this 1977 Martini Edition 924. As you can see this one will need a total redo. It has been sitting for a good 15 years. I changed the spark plugs and wires and the car will crank and turn over feeding starter spray down the intake. Gas tank probably is dirty from sitting. Some of the wiring in engine baywas damaged by squirrels so that has to be gone thru. Brakes are no good and need to be addressed. Wheels where locked from sitting but I have managed to get it rolling by adjusting the rear wheel adjusters and freed up the front discs with wd-40 to get it rolling. The graphics are long gone and the interior steering wheel is different than the other Martini cars I have seen but other than that the interior is all there needing resto work. Dash is not cracked. There's an Alpine radio and speakers setup. Doors panels are in good shape. Windshield is cracked and will need replacement. Rear seats need fastening as they are loose. Floors are solid no rust thru. All other glass is intact. The special console Martini Plaque is there. Car will crank and headlights and other electrical components work when given juice as do the headlights/tail lights. Headliner is good as well as visors. On to the outside: Body has no rust thru areas only surface rust as you can see from the photos except in two areas one being the front lower spoiler panel that will need replacing and the driver side lower fender that will need a patching. I havestripped the areas with a polycarbide wheel to show the bare metal as seen in photos. Car needs to be stripped down to bare metal to be done correctly. Wheels either have been painted black or are the original color. These cars came with white wheels and these are the same pattern as the Martini cars came with. Front and rear sway bars, sunroof, rear window defroster. Original engine transmission setup. Car has everything and you will have to look for very little in restoring this little diamond in the rough. Graphic kits for the body are available so findingit will not be hard. Transmission goes thru all gears with no problem and clutch seems to be tight but again it has been laying dormant for over 15 years. Someone put a rear spoiler on it and I have that also as well as the owners manual and warranty brochure. Car has a transferable Tenn. clear title. Car is located in the Greenville South Carolina area 2 hours north of Atlanta, 2 hours south of Charlotte NC. I will assist in loading car and would deliver south of southern Virginia for an added mutually agreed fee. This is a nice fun father-son type project to do on a fairly rare Porsche. Who knows how many these are left. I require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction end and full payment within 7 days after auction end. I will hold the car at no charge here in my yard for a month or so should you need that. Please contact me with any questions you may have before you decide or call (864)201-9833. Thank you.
