Description for Porsche 928 1984
1984 Porsche 928s with 3,142 miles - being sold with no reserve
Vehicle was a true barn find, sold at an estate sale 15 years ago, and have had the vehicle in my storage facility until this point.
The vehicle was in a state of disrepair when I found it, based on the documents, and vehicle condition at the time of my purchase - it has been parked in a shed sometime around 1992-1993, the owner was ill and passed away. The car spent some time outside after his passing, until the estate finally sold the vehicle. I have a clear PA title in my name for the vehicle, as well as copies of the original title and death certificate.
The car is not in concours condition and I didn’t plan for it to be. It would have taken far more time and effort than I have available to restore the car, so I decided to clean it up, get it functionally running and customize it to my specific liking. Make it a nice driver but keep the spirit of the original vehicle in tact. I sorted the vehicle mechanically, then picked away at the exterior to complete my goal of making it a car I was not scared to drive.
Mechanical completed to date -
Timing belt and water pump were completed at 3,000 mi, as well as a new battery and oil change and wipers.
Oil pan resealed, sagging/cracked motor mounts replaced
Oil/Filter
Transmission fluid/Differential fluid
Fuel pump
Belts
Visual upgrades-
Authentic BBS RS wheels, new Hankook Evo tires installed – they have 100mi on them
Sparco seats/harnesses/harness bar/Dash cover installed
1987+ Front bumper conversion with OEM Porsche glass lens foglights
Vehicle was wrapped white – Avery vinyl January of 2019. Car has never been parked outside since completion
Carbon fiber front splitter 01/2019
Car is lowered 3.5†in the rear and 3†in the front. The car is pretty low and will rub speed bumps.
NOS OEM leather mirror covers 01/2019
I kept every item that I removed, including the factory seats, panels, trims, Factory BBS wheel tool, radio etc. all of which are included in the sale.
Mechanical condition:
The vehicle will need looked through. It is an almost 40 year old vehicle regardless of the mileage. I have driven the car, but due to the age of the rubber components/brake hoses etc, and the fact that the car has been sitting – I would absolutely check the safety related items . Do not expect to jump in this car and make a cross country trip tomorrow, for your own safety you need to look over all systems.
Known faults – to the best of my knowledge
Headlights go up and work, but do not drop down. If you mess with the switch I can make them drop. While jiggling the headlight switch, I also wiggled the gauge cluster and the printed circuit board looks rough, the gauges wiggle around when you shake it. A few vendors sell the circuit board, and is a cheap repair. I never drove it at night so it didn’t bother me. Wiper wiring and defroster wiring, same story. Foglights need wired up, a few fuses are blown, and its a 40 year old Porsche so expect a few other quirks. The A/C is removed but included in the sale, if you desire to reinstall. I was planning to install and charge it eventually.
Exterior – All of my vehicles are white and I did not want to spend the time painting this car when I never planned on restoring it, so I had it wrapped in gloss white vinyl. It is a very nice wrap job, but as with most vinyl installs, the door jams are still body color - originally silver, then sprayed blue. There are 2 or 3 dings on the rocker panels, it looks like it was jacked up incorrectly at some point. 1 or 2 small hail size ding in the hood.
Closing notes - Vehicle is not completely finished. Minor items just need picked away at. There are imperfections, but the car shows incredibly well for being 40 years old. Drive it as is, or finish it to your own standards. You may inspect vehicle prior to sale, but it will be sold as is. If you require any addiotnal photos do not hesitate to email.
