This coupe was acquired by the present owner in 2005 just after the completion of a comprehensive bare metal restoration. After a few months with his "new" 356 our client felt the performance was in need of an upgrade. He then embarked on a comprehensive mechanical update with Scott Hendry of Scott's Independent in Anaheim... CA. Scott is known as one of the most talented and through Porsche Air Cooled technicians in the country. Over the course of the next two years Scott rebuilt all of the mechanical systems on the car including the engine (now 2 liters), transmission, suspension, steering and brakes. Stoddard 6" wheels round out the package and give this 356 a great stance. The low end torque, overall performance and the deep, unique exhaust note of this motor is absolutely intoxicating. It is not an overstatement to say that this little coupe drives substantially better than it did when new, in fact it's an absolute blast. The total of the 11 invoices from Scott's Independent for the mechanical rebuild and engine upgrade to 2 liter displacement comes to $84,931! Additional invoices total $5407.
