Description for Porsche 911 1971
You are bidding on a 1971 Porsche 911 S coupe. This car has not been driven since 1990. It was originally purchased in Germany in late 1970 by an American serviceman who then had it transported to the US when he returned to Georgia about a year later. He drove it until the mid-'80s, then sold it to a friend of his who drove it for a few more years. This second owner then stored it away at his house. It was outside for at least the last 5 or so years. I bought it from the second owner. The car has never had any attempt at a restoration. It still has all 5 of its original Fuchs wheels. The second owner did remove the oil tank to repair a leak in it about a year ago when he had the idea to fix it up and drive it again. However, that's as far as he got. The oil tank is fixed and repainted and can be seen in one of the pictures showing it and the rest of the oil tank plumbing in a box, along with the valve covers, which the same person removed at the same time to change the valve cover gaskets.
Although the car has a Britax roll bar and the Cibie driving lights, it was never rallied or raced. (By the way, the Cibie lights were installed by the dealer in Germany when the car was new, I was told, and judging by the mounting brackets under the hood looking very sturdy and properly fitted, I believe it.) The only repair I could find on the car was a very minor one on the right rear fender where you can faintly see some pinkish bondo. I looked under the fender and there is no creasing or other signs that this was more than a minor scrape. They also must have replaced the right rear bumper end too, as the one on there now has some red paint visible on it.
The original color of the car is light yellow 6206. It appears to have had just one repaint at some time in the same color.
Although there are some obvious rusted areas around the car, this is NOT a rust bucket by any means. In fact, I don't believe you will need to replace any complete panels anywhere. All the rust holes, top and bottom, can be fixed with small patches. Even the floors aren't too bad. The bottoms of the doors are in good condition too.
I have not tried to turn the engine over and don't plan to. Whoever buys this car will certainly be doing a complete restoration and will be rebuilding the engine anyway.
This car has always been in Georgia and Georgia is a non-Title state for cars produced before 1983. Therefore, only a Georgia Bill of Sale will be given with this car. EBay does not give an option for Bill of Sale, so don't pay any attention to their "Clear Title" box. THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE.
