Restoration project,
The 911E cars are one of the best driving cars of the long hood models. They combine the more power of the "E" camshaft grind, with the precision of an MFI fuel injection system to create a smooth drivable car.
This project has been sitting in a garage in Northern Arizona for the last 10 years and is just waiting for someone to bring it all back to life.
The body on the car is remarkably clean and straight. The original color is supposed to be Signal Orange, one of the nicest colors that Porsche used in the early cars. The front fenders are clean and straight and are not showing the usual rust spots down in the dog legs. The floor pans are also in very good shape with only a small couple of patches of rust in the back end of the car that need to be repaired. The doors open and close well and are fairly straight and show no signs of any major repairs or rust. The rear of the car looks good, there appears to be a repair on the left rear of the car where a potion has been cutout and replaced. Though the repair itself does not look bad it could do with some clean up and finish work. The front suspension pan is in surprisingly good shape along with the front compartment panel. The front bumper seal ledge will need to be replaced, but all generally pretty good. There is a small rust hole at the bottom of the smugglers box where it meets the floor pan seam that will need to be repaired. The rockers seem to be solid with the lower jack mounts the only areas that show any signs of rust forming. Both battery boxes appear to be in great shape with no signs of rust throughs. The front bumper is not the original and will need some work, though no extensive damage is present. A previous owner painted the car Blue, the paint is really not good, and the car really needs to be back in the original Signal Orange. All in all, the body is in pretty good shape and would not take a huge amount of work to bring it back to what it should be. Definitely one of the cleaner and straighter cars that we have seen in a while.
The engine is the original, (to the best of our knowledge based on the previous owner), 2.2L and still has all the MFI components installed. The engine turns over and appears that it has had some work done but that is the extent of our knowledge of this motor. The transaxle case is fairly corroded, and the clutch cable mount has pulled through the housing. This is why a replacement front case is supplied with the car.
The interior of the car looks like it is mostly all there with the exception of the dashboard, Door pockets and headrests. The seats in the back look to be in good shape, the front seats will need some work and the seat hinges are there but not attached correctly. Looking in the gas tank it appears that the last owner had it cleaned out because other than some small pieces of debris it is good to go with fresh fuel. The interior vent pieces all appear to be intact though no testing of the operation of the vents was done.
The car has had the engine and transaxle re-installed and all other parts packed into the vehicle ready for transport, be across the country or across the world. The wheels and tires included in the sale are steel rollers 4.5" x 15" Steel rims and do hold air. Though the hydraulic brake system is not currently working the parking brake is...... and it's all ready and waiting for a new life.
The vehicle is located in Northern Arizona, we can assist with loading the vehicle on to a transport, however the buyer is responsible for arranging for and paying for any transportation that is required.
