Description for Porsche 928 1988
I have had this beauty in my collection for quite a few years, but the garage is getting full and I would love for this Porsche to be in the hands of an enthusiast who loves cars and understands the marque of the 928 Porsche. I got this car from an airline pilot in Canada, so the speedo is in KM; but 5 speed 928s were somewhat rare (I believe less than 20% perhaps) as Porsche felt that the automatic was demanded by the American market. In my opinion, any sports car should have a manual transmission, and even with today's modern PDK and the such, the 928 is a better car for it. More reliable and thus a longer life.
I have done all the work on this car and maintained it well, regular oil changes; and I have most of the previous owners service records as well as my own. I replaced the radio with a more modern Blaupunkt (but still 'vintage', no flashing lights!), recovered the steering wheel, so the interior is pretty nice. Seats are in great shape, all the leather Lexol-ed; the car was kept in a climate controlled garage in Phoenix. Typically, you will see the instrument pod cover badly cracked on these; this one has a few separations but not bad. The plastic on the pod face has a small crack.
Everything works well, the car had a 10 year warranty I believe from Porsche while in Canada; I have done updates as I have owned it. The car has 80's style electronics and I have strived to update issues that you might find.
I recently replaced the stock A/C system with a Kuehl compressor kit, evaporator and lines; the system is vacuumed and is sealed and now just needs to be charged, which has not yet been done awaiting cooler days in Phoenix! The original compressor is still good, and the lines and compressor are included if you want them. Also, I bought but have not mounted a replacement engine bay lower pan (these cars often had them removed) which I will also include. Spare tire, air compressor, tools, owners manual; all of course present and included.
Other than that, it is ready to drive. Runs great; I have taken it on 300 mile road trips with not issues.
I just had an insurance appraisal done which I can provide to anyone who is a serious buyer; it is 12MB so quite large.
These cars are increasing in value so I believe this is a fair offer for someone who has always wanted a 928, if that is you this is the car for you. If you like to have a car you can work on, tweak and always improve, and drive with confidence and pride, then you are a Porsche 928S4 owner and your car is waiting for you.
