Description for Porsche 911 1983
Selling my 1983 Porsche 911SC Cabriolet. I purchased the car about 10 years back in New Jersey and stored it in a heated garage in upstate New York and later when we moved to New Jersey. The car has been a joy to own and has only been driven on the weekends during the summer months. The car has 107,306 miles, I believe it had around 98k when I purchased it. If you know these air cooled Porsches, with proper maintenance they will last a lifetime.
The 911 is in good overall condition, by no means a trailer queen but by no means a basket case. I've done regular maintenance, oil changes, tune ups, battery, etc. I used strictly Swedish in Saugerties New York and later KOS in Montclair New Jersey. We recently moved to California for work and well with small kids I just don't have the time to get out like I used to and looking to pass it to the next keeper.
The exterior is in good overall condition, there are stone chips and a few areas that have been touched up as photo'd but has never been in a fender bender, body is straight and no dents/dings. A ripe candidate to continue to drive as is or paint at some point if inclined. Has original Fuchs rims front and back and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on the front and back, I haven't had any problems but the tires could be replaced eventually. The front hood and rear deck both need new hood struts, the antenna needs to be replaced (was broken in transit to CA) and one of the latches on the convertible needs to be tightened. The car has fog lights and covers as photo'd.
The interior is in great shape, seats have no tears but do have some signs on the driver's side of fading from getting in and out of the car. The car is fitted with a wood Nardi steering wheel and an Alpine CD receiver. All carpets are in good shape with front SC carpets. The driver side pocket is loose as pictured and the car does not have a convertible boot cover. There is also an air-conditioning system, electric windows, and electronically adjustable mirrors all in working order although the air conditioning isn't that cold.
The car drives smooth and shifts easily. It idles at 1100 RPMs and can pick up the pace when needed. It's never been raced or messed with, the only thing I think that's been upgraded is the air filter/cover and installed sway bar in the fronk.
Included with the car is the manual, spare wheel and tool kit and repair manual.
I've done by best to describe the car for you, it's a great car and want the owner to be happy! This 911 SC is very appealing and offers an ideal Porsche to provide its next owner with many more miles of enjoyable and reliable open-air motoring. Will be happy to work with your shipper and reach out if you have any questions, car is in Burbank CA 91505. Thanks
911SC History:
The all-but-bulletproof three-liter air-cooled engine of the 911 SC, which was sold from 1978 through 1983, helped bolster Porsche's reputation as a manufacturer of reliable high-performance sports cars. The L-series SC—for "Super Carrera" —was offered in three flavors: coupe, Targa, and the open-air cabriolet with a manually folding canvas top and zippered back window, introduced in 1983. All proved immensely popular. Power grew to 180 bhp and 175 foot-pounds of torque for U.S.-spec models. The SC offered widened rear quarters and front wheel openings to accommodate six- and seven-inch-wide, 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels. This example is one of 1,718 SC cabriolets produced for the U.S. market for 1983.
