This vehicles VIN confirms that this is a very early production 964 Turbo based on the production sequence (0078) that this was within the 1st 20 964 Turbos to come to the US and was promptly shipped to Andail for the “undocumented” performance upgrades (detailed below). This is one of the intial protoypes done for the IMSA series for the 964 Turbos. The car was sold by a local Mass Porsche dealer in January of 1991 and remained “off the grid” until 1995 when it was registered with 61 miles on the odometer. It is believed that the car was purchased by Porsche Cars or North America and toured the across the country visiting dealers for promotional purposes to display the upgrades and to promote the racing series for which the 964 Turbos would be entered (aka Homologation for IMSA). The first owner from NH had the car from 1995 to 1996 when the car was sold to its second owner and titled in Mass. In 1998 the vehicle was involved in a minor flood for a fraudulent insurance claim for a total loss. The vehicle was sold at auction to a restoration specialist and has a fully documented repair process that includes every part and procedure that was performed in order to return this rare car back to life. The repairer is a 35 year veteran in the collision industry and performed the restoration personally. The insurance company initially did not approve the total loss and after a long battle they decided to give in (called an Agency Consideration Claim). Once the claim was paid the owner tried to buy it back from the repair facility and the insurance company pressed charges for fraud. All repair documents are available upon request for serious buyers as well as the entire folder of all documents pertaining to the insurance estimate and all parts receipts. CARFAX. This repair was completed in 1999 and the car was sold to its current owner. who also monitored the repair process. with 22k miles.
