Description for Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit/Spur/Dawn 1990
This beautiful motorcar has been in the family for a few years and we now have to move heralong to a new owner to free up resources for a coming baby. One of the early 1990 model year Silver Spurs, his Midnight Blue example was built in early fall of 1989, nd arrived at the Los Angeles port in late that December. It has its original Cream Everflex roof and Parchment Connolly leather interior. It was originally sold through Gregg Motors RR/Bentley in Beverly Hills, A. The car has been in California for all of its life except for about 18 months with its second owner in Seattle. The car has absolutely no rust anywhere, bove or on the chassis--not even a nick. It was expensively repainted in about 2002 in its stunning original deep metallic blue, nd the paint work is in beautiful condition.
We are the fourth owners, nd as many Rolls-Royces do, wo ofher previous owners were prominent figures in entertainment or media. I have nearly all of the history on the car (including its build sheets from Crewe) and its shipping paperwork from the plant to Los Angeles, elivery PDI inspection at the port and at the dealer, nd much service history. It has been routinely and religiously serviced through its life, nd the fact that the oil stays cleanbetween changes is a testament to its history. It runs and drives beautifully. The big V8 is strong and quiet, nd the Hydramatic transmission shifts smoothly in all gears. The climate control (including both upper and lower comfort zones) work perfectly, ith cold air in the summer and toasty heat in the winters. The A/C compressor is new, nd the system has been converted to R-134a for future serviceability.
The interior is a beautiful place to spend time on road trips, nd is very elegant in the desirable parchment & navy blue leather/carpeting combination. While many Rolls-Royces were bespoke for their customers in outlandish or garish interior treatments, his car's color treatment is very classy and timelessly British. We will definitely miss the wonderful aroma of fine hides and wool carpets when she's gone. The woodwork is all in excellent condition, ith virtually no cracking or hazing anywhere except for some seatbelt nicks on the drivers door cap. The dash, oor and console veneers are all in excellent condition--even the door caps on all four doors are clear and glossy. The carpets are in great shape, nd all of the navy blue lambswool carpet overlays are intact--though I keep them stored in a container for special occasions. Thereare a set of thick navy blue floor mats throughout the car to stand in for the lambswool moutons for routine drives. Both rear footrests are present and in like new condition. The rear veneer tray tables are also in very good condition.
Mechanically, his motorcar is very strong. At only 57,900 miles it really hasn't had a hard life. We've taken it on several road trips and its been reliable and comfortable every time. The hydraulic system (the most critically important aspect of the car's mechanicals) is in top flight condition. Both of the hydraulic brake circuits are fully functional, nd both pumps have been recently resealed. Both accumulators have a clean bill of health, nd the pressure warning light always goes off when it should when the car is started cold. The rear suspension height correcting spheres are new and the hydraulic leveling system works as it should. One of the return hoses from the brake master cylinders drips a few drops every time the car is parked, ut not a large amount. The mineral oil reservoirs are always full and clean. The front and rear suspension mechanicals are very good. The front compliance bushings were replaced last year. The alignment is good and the big car tracks as it should on the highway (which is to say, ike a 5,400lb car with a soft suspension should).
Electrically, he car is in good shape. All interior electrical accessories work except for the cruise control, hich I'm told by the RR technician is because the ABS light is on. The ABS light is on because there is apparently a bad wire inside a loom at one of the wheel speed sensors. I have not had this looked into. The power seats (including memory seats) work well, nd the heated seats also work fantastic. The right rear reclining seat can be temperamental, ut both work. The car has an updated audio system with Sirius-XM radio and USB/Bluetooth & Pandora capabilities. Express-down feature on the drivers' power window works as it should. All exterior and interior lighting works--though the courtesy lights are slow to turn on when opening the drivers' door. Also, he airbag light is on--but in all honesty I haven't looked into the airbag fault because all manufacturer'spre-1998 model year US-spec airbags were very forceful.
What's New: Many many new parts over the years of my ownership, ost recently including belts, oses, nd spark plug wires. I also replaced the twin distributor belts (which tend to leave you stranded if neglected). The fuel pumps, ilter and fuel accumulator are new. A/C compressor, xpansion valve, igh side hose to condenser, nd cooling fan relays are new. Low coolant sensor is new, s are the very important flame arrestor/backfire preventer hoses and traps for the Bosch fuel injection system. New rear brake pads. Front pads (all 8) are about 60% life.
What it needs: If I were keeping her, 'd put on new tires next year because they are getting old (but really have about 80% tread left). I'd also replace the aforementioned leaking hydraulic return line. The right rear power window also occasionally binds as it goes up and downand will need work eventually. I would also get the ABS wiring checked so that cruise control could be used.
This has been a very reliable car, nd the Rolls-Royce quality is apparent everywhere you look. The car has been treated like the investment that it was, hich is why I bought it.Someone told me when I was shopping for this car a few years ago that "the most expensive Rolls-Royce you buy will be a cheap one." I'm listing this car at the low end of the market value so that I can move it on quickly--so please don't be surprised if I don't respond to lowball offers; there are plenty of basket case cars out there for much less money. There are also some museum pieces out there that I'd sweat parking anywhere for fear of a door ding. This car is a great roadworthy driver's Rolls-Royce to enjoy and take on a trip through Napa Valley without worrying about splattering a few bugs on that beautiful grill.
I will work with your shipper andI'dbe happy to show the car on appointment. Thanks for looking.
