Description for Rolls-Royce Wraith 1979
Vehicle Overview1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Silver Wraith II. Bullet proofed British Royal VIP car that carried Princess Diana on her visits to the United States. Bought new by the Embassy of the United Kingdom in 1979 then spend over 2 years being armored against bullets, grenades and small boobs . The bulletproof windshield is also sealed against a gas attacks. The car was in the VIP fleet of the British Embassy Washington D.C. until is was retired in 1988. During these eight years the car was reserved for use only by VIPS' including the likes of Prince Charles. However the most historic and important use of this car was during the highly publicized, first ever visit by Princess Diana to the US. It was the very car that carried the Royal couple during their 3 day visit where they were greeted by President and First lady Regan's at the White House. Video footage of their encounter is included with sale and offered on our website or upon request.
With low mile, the car is in excellent condition and all original with exception to the recent 11,000 paint job.
This car is extremely documented. It has all the history since is was ordered new. Cancelled title showing Embassy Ownership, Letters between Berman and the Embassy, the original Rolls Royce Build sheet and orders forms and Diplomatic log book documenting its Royal use. The most particularly interesting item is the log book. For security reasons, very detailed records were kept, covering seemingly mundane tasks such as who fueled the car, where and when and at what cost.
