The MK VI also marked the first car to be completely built and assembled at the factory. The MK VI was a huge success for the company and was built on a shorter chassis than its sister the Rolls Royce Silver Wraith. The chassis of the MK VI was modified along with the reliable straight six cylinder engine to be a Sports Saloon. The MK VI continued on until 1952 when it was replaced by the R-Type Sports Saloon. European Motor Studio is proud to offer this beautiful 1949 Bentley MK VI Sports Saloon finished in a two toned Black/Silver with a lite blue leather interior. This lovely MK VI Saloon left the production line sometime in 1949 and was sold new in England. The car was then imported into Southern California sometime in the late 1960’s or 1970’s and still retains its original Blue Plate. The car has been in the care of a Southern California collector for many years and has been very well cared for its entire life. This Bentley MK VI was used in the blockbuster hit Hook starring Robin Williams. Maggie Smith and Dustin Hoffman which came out in 1991. The Bentley grille was converted to a Rolls Royce grille for the film along with the wheels and badging. The car wears an older repaint which still shows nicely. The black paint is still nice and glossy but does show areas of age. There are stress cracks in some areas that are not too noticeable unless viewed closely. The chrome is in great shape and shows only some areas of pitting. The interior of the car is in very nice original condition. It is believed to be original based off the consistency of the leather. The leather does show some cracking but still has a nice patina to it. The wood is in excellent condition and still retains a beautiful color and finish. The headliner is excellent and does not show any wear or damage. The engine starts right up with all of the steering wheel controls for the mixture and gas. Once warmed up the engine idles beautifully and accelerates very smooth and strong. The transmission shifts well through all of the gears and does not grind or slip. The suspension and steering feel very good and free from any noises or issues. The tires are period correct and older but still in good shape. All of the electrics appear to be operating as designed. including interior and exterior lights. brake lights and reverse lights. There are no signs of rust anywhere on the car or any signs of prior damage. This is an excellent Bentley MK VI that runs and drives beautifully and comes with an excellent provenance.
