Description for Saab 900 1985
1985 SAAB Turbo daily driver with manual automatic windows and manual sunroof. 4 door with 5 speed transmission. Car has great engine, ranny and turbo pulls strong. Interior looks great. Exterior has some scratches and sun fade on hood. Body is rust free and solid California car.- Replaced entire clutch system last year
-Front brakes were done recently
- Brand new tires on amazing SAAB "weathervane" rims (Shelby style).
The only items not working are
- AC
- auto locks and mirrors ( need to cut out and replace rotted wires, ommon problem)
I'm only selling because I recently purchased a 1998 9000.
I've only owned SAABS and purchased this one from Walter Wong at Right Solution. He was always the mechanic and it shows.
I have extra APC and Jetronic computer along with 4 of the original teardrop rims. I also have SAAB hitch (missing mounting plate but easy fabrication).
CAR IS BEING SOLD LOCALLY SO AUCTION CAN END EARLY IF SOLD
UPDATE AS OF 8/28/15 4:00pm California timeDriving today I realized I did not mention Reverse in this car "chatters" sometimes if going long distance backing up (10-20 ft.) It must be worn syncro but it never pops out of gear. Basically I put gear into 1st, nd then reverse and back up. If your reversing out of a parking spot usually you never get "chatter". This has been a non issue to be honest but do want to mention it.
I have a quick release on battery terminal because if car sits for more then 3 days battery drains. I believe this is due to the after market radio being installed improperly. I'm sure it's an easy fix but I didn't mind unhooking battery if I left car at airport for extended time. It's like a security system I figured.
I've added interior and engine bay pictures
I've been asked what is worst part about this car that needs to be addressed. I'd say AC ! I used to fill it with can of R134 every 6 months and it would work great. Last month I put in a can and I believe a hose behind passenger light gave out because refrigerant leaked out from that area I noticed. I'm guessing it's a easy fix because AC worked great when charged. Light scratches on drivers rear door and rear bumper has marks from years of street parking.
I've been asked about leaks - I do not have to top off any fluids since owning. THIS IS THE COOLEST RUNNING SAAB I'VE EVER HAD. IT NEVER GOES ABOVE A 1/4 ON 100 DEGREE DAYS, MAZING!
Also brand new battery and molded dash cover.
More questions and here are the answers.
Vehicle was in a minor accident back with original owner, ence "salvage" title. It was accident involving front quarter panel on drivers side I believe. It was given "salvage" title due to age and insurance company trying to junk a old car. From my understanding Walter Wong took the car in and got it repaired properly knowing it was a minor accident. Car tracks straight and no shake or shim at high speeds (85-90 mph).
Odometer goes in and out so actual milage is probably around 150,000. I've had this car 3 years and only used it part-time since I split my time between NYC and LA.
Keep asking questions because I feel better answering them, honestly am not trying to hide anything from this car.
