1968 Shelby GT 500 Convertible. Shelby number 141. THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION. BID TO WIN.There were only 402 GT 500 convertibles built in 1968. I bought this car from the gentleman that had owned it since 1978. He had taken it off of the road in 1978 and installed a 427 SOHC engine in it . By installing this engine in the car it was necessary to remove and relocate the shock towers. The stock suspension was replaced with a rack and pinion unit and a Mustang 2 front suspension. If desired an original style suspension can be added real easy as all parts are available new. I do have the factory steering box. Both inner fenders have the correct Ford stampings and the Shelby tag and buck tag are correct for the car. The Ford number on the windshield passenger side is present as well. There are 17712 miles showing on the odometer. According to the Registry this is a 3 owner car with the last owner installing a 427 SOHC engine in it somewhere around 1980. I do not believe the car has been on the road since 1980. According to the Marti report this car was equipped with a C6 automatic which comes with the car and a 3.50 rear axle. The interior is present and has a AM-FM radio. Correct oil and amp gauges as well as console top. I have most everything to restore this car to its original glory. There is no engine with this car.This will be a very easy restoration do the fact that the body is so nice. The left rear floor pan will need to be repaired as it looked like a battery may have set back there at one time. I bought the car for the SOHC engine that is in it. I have another car in mind for it that I have had for 30 plus years.
