Description for Shelby 1965
This Superformance Mk IIICobraReplicasits much like the original Shelby AC Cobra's of the mid 60's - but better! The wagon wheel type spring perch front ends of old are replaced with more geometrically correct ones, The solid rear axle is replaced with a Independent Rear Suspension. The 4 Speed Top Loader Transmission is replaced by a 5 Speed Tremec Transmission and Drum brakes are replaced by power assisted Wilwood Disc brakes at all 4 corners. However, all these things are hidden from the observers eye, so the oogle factor is the same, but the driving experience is very much enhanced!! This is a great car to take out on the weekend for a nice car show, rally,or a longer jaunt with a bunch of friends. It comes with a toneau cover as well as a convertible top and side windows. It also has the original style shifter a Jordan "shorty" shifter, and "turkey pan" for the carb. This car started life in 2010 as Chassis number 3035where it was meticulously hand assembled to exacting specifications inSouth Africa at the Assembly Plant. It thenreceived the expertly machined Engine and Trans at Southern Automotive in Georgia and was registered as a 65 Cobra in Wisconsin by it's original owner where it was lovingly housed in a well controlled garage and only used on nice warm days. He put about 3500 miles on it and I bought the car from himin June of 2014. I registered it in California as an SB 100 Car - Smog Exempt, and have enjoyed taking it to local car shows, rallys, and heart racing journeys over the Ortega Highway. What a Rush!
