Description for Shelby GT500 1970
Unrestored survivor.428 CJ 4 bbl Holley carb, 4 spd Toploader transmission. 3.50 Traction Lok rear.40,000 original miles with one repaint in Wimbledon White back in 1979. Original color is Pastel Gray(Which is White in color and not Gray). According to previous owner car was painted due to scratches. Interestingly enough car still retains it's factory applied side stripes. In 1979 stripes were obsolete from Ford Motor Company and they weren't available from aftermarket sources at the time. So they taped off the original side stripes and did an excellent job where you need to look very up close and at certain angle to see how careful of a job they did. The original side stripes are a shade darker in color than repro stripes and seem thicker too. Options include Tilt wheel, Power vent, AM 8 track stereo(Doesn't play well has static)with original speakers in the doors as it was from the factory.Car has no rust and retains it's original body panels.I have owned this car since 1989. Had 35,900 miles when I purchased it.Car was sold out of Levittown Motors on Long Island and has stayed on Long Island all it's life. Had thecar gone through mechanically in 1993 by Kurt Vogt of Cobra Automotive in Connetticut. Which included new brake lines, front rotors and pads, calipers, clutch.Car runsstrong as a 428 CJ shouldwith a recent rebuild of the Holley carb. Car was a cover car and main feature car in the very last issue of Mustang Illustrated in Nov 2001. Have original documents from the late Lois Eminger who worked for Ford Motor Company and the Marti report.Of all the 1969 Shelby leftoversthat were turned into 1970 models this car is 1 of 45 in it's factory current configuration. The unrestored interior is in excellent condition with no rips as well as the door panels and dash pad. Rugs are excellent. Car is very presentable in every way and in excellent driver condition . Not concours condition but a well preserved driver. Serious inquiries only.
