Description for Studebaker 1947
Available for bidding is this 1947 Studebaker retro-mod truck. The drive train is a Chevy 350 small block mated to a 700R transmission. The front end is a GM metric clip with power front disc brakes and GM power steering. The rear end is solid with great running gear. The interior is very nice with a comfortable ride. GM tilt steering column, fter market gauge pack, emote control JVC stereo. The door panels and headliner are correct to the '47 truck. The door handles are new with a vintage look. The body is in great shape. When the truck was renovated by the previous owner, he gas tank was moved from underneath the truck to the metal trunk that sits in the bed of the pickup. I replaced the starter in April 2015. The driver's side door hinge needs an adjustment because the door sags slightly and won't close properly.
I purchased the pickup from a vintage car shop in Amarillo, exas, ho originally bought it from the original independent owner. Before I bought the pickup from the vintage shop, spoke with the original owner who provided a history of the truck. The owner was an auto shop teacher at a vocational high school class in Oklahoma. As part of the vocational class project, he class students built this truck bottom up to its present condition, ncluding the engine, rive train, nd paint job.
I am reluctantly selling the truck because my wife and I purchased a home, nd the money will be used to cover house expenses. This truck is great for cruise night or just tooling around town and attracts thumbs up, heers, nd smiles wherever you drive it. It easily cruises down the highway. I applied for antique license plates which permitted me to register the vehicle as Antique and exempt it from annual inspection. Thus, drove the pickup on a limited basis.
The winning buyer will have to make arrangements for transportation plans and costs to pick up the car in Austin. I have used u-ship in the past with good results. The truck is being sold "As Is" without any stated or implicit warranties. The winning buyer must provide a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of winning the truck. I will accept the balance owed through wire transfer of funds or certified bank check. Independent inspections are welcome.
Please contact me with any questions. I will be delayed in answering questions until late in the evenings after I return home from work.
Good luck in your bidding. On Aug-03-15 at 13:23:32 PDT, eller added the following information:After the initial posting of the truck's description, wrote the following information pertinent to the truck's condition. The vehicle has a GM tilt steering column and after market gauge pack, ut the speedometer does not function. Additionally, hile the truck came with a remote control JVC stereo, he stereo did not turn on when I received it, nd I have not had it serviced to make the radio operable. When driving the truck at night time, he tail lights will sometimes stay on after shutting the engine down (the previous owner informed me this can be solved by adjusting the position of a small button underneath the steering column that is causing the tail lights to stay on); however, he truck is installed with a battery disconnect dial, hich is installed between the negative battery terminal and negative battery cable. So a simple rotation of the dial effectively isolates and disconnects the battery from the truck's electrical system. After being driven, he truck leaves small oil droplets on the ground underneath the engine.
