Description for Studebaker Commander 1955
First let me say the mileage listed above is just numbers to fill in the space. I don't remember the reading and I doubt its accuracy anyway. This is a very solid and largely rust free car which I had intended to use to build a Speedster tribute car. I have spent lots of time and money gathering the Speedster specific trim including the roof band and its transition pieces which lead to the rear fender spears ( also Speedster specific and included ), og lights, ood and fender spears, ire wheel covers, ack up lights, nd President trunk handle as well as the Speedster script and badges. For the interior I have the Speedster dash and metal overlay but not the pad which is generally available from Southeast Studebaker. I do not have the gauges but they are available from Summit Racing in 12 volt form. I have a restorable radio, clock with bezel, he door ash trays, nd a better horn ring also. Also included in the sale is a very nice 3 piece grill and a better "butter knife" for the drivers side. Numerous other misc items such as shocks and front end parts will be with the car also. The tires are new Coker radials. The spare is like new but not a match. The engine is a cloverleaf (heavy duty) 289 which starts easily and doesn't smoke or make strange noises. The engine and chassis seem to have been worked on and the car runs drives and stops well. The DG250 automatic seems OK but leaks at the selector fork. A new pan gasket and selector fork seal are included. The generator is not charging but I haven't looked into it as I was going to 12 volts. The paint is a primer applied to stabilize the car and it needs to be stripped in order to properly prepare the body for paint. The interior is stripped but the seats are useable as well as the arm rests. In short, his is a really good start for a Speedster clone. I even have a Speedster body tag and vin plate you can have for show purposes. The car came here from California but I don't really know it's history. I will expect a $500.00 non refundable deposit via Pay Pal within 24 hours of the close of auction and the balance within 10 days. I can assist your shipper in loading but the car will not leave until funds have cleared. I will provide a notarized bill of sale if necessary as well as the title. Thanks for your interest. Bid early and bid often!!!
