Description for Studebaker Custom Hot Rod 1953

Custom, one of a kind, 1953 Studebaker Roadster. Completed in 2012 by a very talented craftsman with a creative eye. All body panels, including cowl, firewall, dashboard,A pillars, grille, hood, door skins, rear quarter panels, tail lights and tailgate are original, customized, 1953 Studebaker. Title and current registration is 1953 Studebaker. Original data plate is still in place on the firewall. Fenders were custom fabricated at a motorcycle shop. All this mounted to a race car chassis and it handles accordingly. I've had it to 120 mph at our local airport and it takes off ramps like it's on rails. QA1 adjustable coil over shocks with 350 lb. springs on the front and 125 lb. on the rear. Wilwood brakes on all four corners with dual master cylinders, one each for front and rear brakes with adjustable balance bar. Wheels are chromeBassettWide Fives, 15" shod with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R. Detroit Locker differential with a Frankland Quick Change rear end. Engine was a 283 from a 1958 Chevy. It's been bored out to 301 and completely rebuilt. He installed the highest performance cam that would be compatible with the torque converter. On top is an Edelbrock Scorpion manifold and 4bbl carb with custom air cleaner. HEI ignition and Accel cap and wires. Transmission is a TH 350 with a shift kitand a B&M shifter. Owner/builder fabricated his own custom headers and they flow into Cobra side pipes. They sound great with a nice, lumpy idle. Huge aluminum radiator with dual, switchable, cooling fans. Runs cool all day. The only time I've used the fans is on very hot days, driving slowly in traffic or parade. The car was featured in the April 2012 issue of Rod and Custom and a copy will go with the sale. I have two DVD's with photographs documenting the build. When I bought the car, in 2012, the owner estimated that it had 1500miles on it. I have driven it another 1000 for an estimated total of 2500 miles. It's still in amazing condition and shows well.Undercarriage is nicely detailed also. One flaw is a spot on the right fender, the size of a nickel, where it touches the header when the wheel is turned fully to the right. Car is well sorted out and dependable.
