Description for Studebaker Commander 1964
Interested in a hot rod project that you won't see every day? Face it, at any car show or driving around on a nice day; you'll see a 57 Chevy - BORING!!! When was the last time you saw a 64 Studebaker Commander coupe? Especially a hot rod or gasser?? Well, now's your chance! I have a solid 2-door coupe that someone started making into a gasser. They did a BAD job installing the straight axle. It's there in the car and it's a roller, but needs to be taken apart an redone. Using this the way it is would not be safe. But the original Stude front suspension was cut off in a way that if your have a Mustang II or Camaro front stub, you could have this on the road in a weekend. And it already has a GM 10-bolt rear end, so it would be an easy project. The car itself is solid, needing only minor floor repair, but it is a full-frame car, so the floor sheet metal is not structural. The car also has a clear (S. Dakota) title, so it would be easily returned to the street. This would make a GREAT winter project! I have additional pix available, so if interested, contact me and I'll get them to you. Outside storage until Spring is also possible, with full payment.
I will also consider AMERICAN trades, so let me know what you want to offer. I have this listed locally, so I reserve the right to withdraw the auction early. However, I will not pull down the listing within the last 24 hours or once the reserve is met. I may be able to assist with transport within about a 350 mile distance of Kingston, WI (53939) but it must be negotiated separately from the auction. If youneed a transport quote, please contact me. But keep Midwest weather in mind with regard to timing.
