Description for Studebaker Hawk 1960
You are bidding on a 1960 Studebaker Hawk being offered with NO RESERVE. It is equipped with a 289 V8 and an overdrive transmission, four-barrel carburetor and power steering. It is fitted with an aftermarket stereo system and a couple of aftermarket gauges. Engine and body numbers match the factory build sheet (see pictures). The car runs, drives and stops but should not be considered roadworthy. Mileage shows 42,467 but actual mileage is unknown.Exterior: The Hawk has received a repaint at some point, as overspray is visible on the undercarriage. Paint is in good/very good condition with some minor trauma on the trailing edges of the front fenders (see pictures) as well as other imperfections near at the deck lid opening and quarter windows (see pictures). Silver paint in side grille insets shows imperfections. Brightwork is in good-to-excellent condition. Scripts appear new, however the lower windshield trim shows wear. Rear bumper, tail light bezels, and fin caps as well as front grille, side grilles and surrounds are in excellent condition. Front bumper shows some wear. Driver's side vent window surround shows blemishes. Passenger side wheel arch trims are in excellent condition, driver's side exhibit a couple minor dings. Tires are older Dimension IV brand 215/75-15 radial tires. Wheel covers show some paint loss. Windshield has faint wiper marks and a couple of small chips.
Interior: The interior appears to have been replaced and is overall in very good-to excellent condition. Evidence of rodent activity was found under the rear seat - the area was thoroughly cleaned prior to listing. There is a tear in the vinyl trim near the passenger side quarter window and on the side of the passenger front seat back. (see pictures). Windlace is loose on both sides. Horn button shows crazing. Headliner is in excellent condition. Carpeting is in very good shape but shows some wear/fraying in the driver's side footwell at the kick panel. Tachometer is an aftermarket unit, as is the fuel gauge. Instrument panel shows some paint loss on lower panel near driver's door. Food storage container on front floor is a home-made speaker enclosure.
Mechanical: Car runs, drives and stops. Engine carries good oil pressure (see picture of instrument panel - engine running at idle). Car was received with power steering pump belt disconnected - condition/operation status of power steering is unknown. Overdrive functioned properly when driven. Column shifter is somewhat sloppy - may need bushings and/or adjustment. Battery has tap on positive cable, presumably for the stereo or tachometer. Radiator core shows what appears to be an oil stain at the lower driver's side corner (see pictures) - no coolant leak is evident.
Structural: Undercarriage, frame and trunk corners appear sound and rust free (see pictures). Spare tire was removed for pictures.
