Take a look at this BEAUTIFUL - VERY RARE !!- MOSTLY FACTORYORIGINAL SURVIVOR !!- 1987 Toyota MR2 AW11 T-Top Coupe!! This is the car that dreams are made of !! The Toyota MR2 began life as the brainchild of Akio Yoshida from the Toyota Testing Department as an economical commuter car that would still be enjoyable to drive. The early prototype was dubbed the "SA-X" and as testing progressed with different powerplant options and placements, t slowly became evident that a true sports car was being built instead. At the Japan Motor Show in 1983 the Toyota "SV-3" was presented to the world. Renamed the "MR2" for the 1984 production year, he first mass produced mid-engine car from Japan was born. The AW11 MR2 unexpectedly out-performed every small sports car of the time and the rest is history. TOO COOL !! This MR2 has 109,924 ACTUAL - ORIGINAL miles since it was brand new and the 100% CLEAN - CLEAR AutoCheck vehicle history report shows correct mileage progression since NEW and ZERO accidents !!It also still retains its correctly mounted - FACTORY ORIGINAL -dash mounted Toyota VINtag -FACTORY ORIGINAL - front support mounted Toyota import data plate -ORIGINAL 1987 Toyota Owner's Guide -ORIGINAL 1987 MR2 Owner's Manual -ORIGINAL Dealer new vehicle delivery checklist -ORIGINAL dealer new car purchase order -ORIGINAL Toyota vehicke service agreement -ORIGINAL dealer odometer statement and the ORIGINAL Toyota vehicle service agreement booklet, ll of which are shown in several pictures below. Driving this little AW11 always puts a huge smile on my face and I am always impressed at how well it handles and how smoothand POWERFUL it is - trust me this thing is a BLAST to drive !! If you have never driven a first generation MR2 then you are missing a truly pure driving experience that is unlike any other. This has been a NICE - DRY -SOLID - Idaho high mountaindesertwestern vehicle since it was brand new and boy does it show !! TRY AND FIND A CLEANER ONE !!

At the heart of this 1987 MR2 isthe STRONG - ORIGINAL - Code "4AGE" - 1.6 Liter Multi Port Fuel Injected Inline 4 cylinder motor that is runningvery well indeed and only 267 miles on a FULL - PROFESSIONAL - DOWN TO THE BARE BLOCK REBUILD !! The original motor was removedand taken to Import Engine Supply in Garden City, daho for a full longblock rebuild. The original block was hot tanked, iamond honed,inspected, ecked and painted. The crankshaft and both camshaftswere reground, olished, nspected and fully balanced. The cylinder head was also hot-tanked, nspected, ecked, nd fully rebuilt with NEW OEM valve guides, eals and the valves and valve seats were all reground and inspected. The rebuild also included a set of NEWOEM Toyota pistons and rings, EW OEM wrist pins, EW ACL bearings, EW OEM headgasket, EW OEM Aisin oil pump, EW water pump, EW OEM harmonic balancer and a NEW OEM Toyota timing belt tensioner and timing belt. Every single gasket, rommet and seal was also replaced during the rebuild. Themotor still retains its ORIGINAL Aluminum intake manifold, RIGINALexhaust manifold, ORIGINALvalve covers, RIGINAL throttle body, RIGINAL intake ducting and the WORKING ORIGINAL "T-VIS" variable intake geometry system. Sounds great toowith the factory style exhaust system. The motoris backed by the ORIGINAL - SMOOTH -Code "C52" - 5 speed fully synchromesh manual transmission that also functions verywell. It shifts smoothly in every gear and was serviced with the recommended Redline MT-90 transmission fluid. This "C52" transmission is not prone to the "5th Gear Pop-Out" that the previous "C50" transmissions are known for.
