Description for Toyota SR5 Pick Up Long Bed 1977
Offered for sale is my 1977 Toyota Pick up. This truck has served my family long and well but it's time to sell. This was driven by my adult children as their first vehicle and to get back and forth to school and work for the last 8 years. They all have other vehicles now so it is no longer needed. Before I owned this truck, t was used for light work and basic transportation. Beyond that I am not sure. Total mileage is unknown as is the complete history on the engine. It ran strong when I bought it and it continues to run strong today. The TITLE IS SALVAGE because of a fender bender my son got into the first day he drove it. At about 10 mph, e hit the back of a truck. Because of this accident, e replaced the fan, adiator, rille, ood, F fender and straightened the radiator core support. We repainted it with a nice single stage paint butdidn'tworry about the dents as the pictures show. The bed was sprayed with a good quality textured bed liner. We considered it a work/transportation vehicle and just wanted it to look half way decent. The transmission's 5th speed went out earlier this year and I replaced the transmission with another 5 speed that had 45,000 miles on it as per the auto dismantler. The clutch was replaced less than 5,000 miles ago. The driveline center support bearing and U joints were replaced last year. The rear gear set was making noise so that was replaced with a used unit 2 years ago. Other items replaced because of normal wear are; driver side window regulator, arpet, rakes, alipers, nd many other small items like alternator, tarter (March of last year), ater pump, attery. The oil and filter have been changed regularly. The engine does not consume any oil between changes and doesn't leak oil. Since it was my intention to keep this for many years, have many spare parts for this truck. All the parts go with the truck, lease take them away. It's a package deal. Those parts include; 3 ring and pinion sets (1 noisey, spare), core transmission Aisin W50 5 speed, orking spare window regulator for both windows, ir conditioning evaporator housing, atching set of 4 chrome steel wheels (2 center caps missing), ear sliding window, ore radiator, eber Redline Carburetor legal for street use, pare original carburetor, xhaust manifold and heat shield, nterior heater control cables and housing around radio opening, oyota emblems and other small parts. These 20R engines seem to hold up well and I have been pleased with the economy and performance of this reliable little truck. I have plenty of other projects so it was nice that this truck provided many reliable miles. I'm sure the next owner can have the same satisfaction. Some bothersome items; the front brakessqueak, here is no air conditioning or radio. The tires on there now are OK but not great. I have the original steel wheels and rims on it along with the stock hubcaps. One hubcap is more weathered than the rest since it was replaced. This truck is a good choice for someone looking for low cost reliable transportation or perhaps restoration candidate. The vehicle is located in Sacramento, alifornia and Ibelieveit spent it's life in the central valley here. There is no rust anywhere by east coast standards. Minor surface rust on some obscure spots only. Everything is as solid as can be. I took a pic with the chrome rims on it so you could see what that looks like. We never ran those rims but they fit and were reasonably priced so I bought them as spares. Thank you for looking. I am happy to answer any questions. Payment is expected soon after the end of auction. I have assisted with shipping vehicle before and I'm happy to do that with this truck but you should obtain your owntransporterif you wish to ship the vehicle. I tried to add some pictures of the 3 ring and pinion sets and the spare carburetor that are included with this listing but apparently I'm maxed out on photos. I can provide these additional pics if requested.
The 3 ring and pinion sets include the housings. These Toyota differential sets drop out once you remove the axles, rive shaft and remove the nuts holding them to the main axle housing. So just to be clear, ncluded are three spare used ring and pinion sets in their housing. One of these was removed because it was starting to make a noticeable noise. The other two were pulled from matching Toyota trucks found in the wrecking yard.
The spare carburetor is a match for the original. So one California street legal Weber plus one spare original carb is included.
The air conditioning evaporator fits under the dash nicely but is not installed. It was pulled from a 78 Toyota truck. I also have some AC brackets.
The missing Toyota emblem on the passenger side has been installed.
The pics do not show that the hood has a few small dents and the factory holes for the windshield squirters. Those squirters are not installed.
There is an exhaust leak from the manifold area but not enough to cause it to fail smog or be too annoying. A smog check certificate is not included in this sale. Smog check certificate is the responsibility of the purchaser.
The core transmission included was removed because 5th gear was like a neutral and the other gears made a noise after that happened. I believe it can be rebuilt but make no promises on that. It was never run low on oil or abused.
Excuse the extra description verbiage but I believe that more information is better than less.
Thank You for looking.
