Description for Toyota Celica 1993
First thing's first, t starts, t runs, nd it drives (if reluctantly). It has an issue that I haven't had the time or money to identify the cause of (there is a description below). I have replaced many parts and intended to continue swapping parts, ut unfortunately have other priorities now. Secondly, his is a running vehicle but will likely not pass inspection. The buyer should plan to ship this wherever it is going. All of THAT being said, his car is a blast! I have never enjoyed owning and driving a vehicle as much as I've enjoyed this one. It has strong but graceful lines, nd it's stance makes it take turns like a champ and keeps it looking great at stoplights as well as next to the curb. It has a large engine for it's model (4 cyl, .2 l), nd has the hp to tow my grandpas boat without any issues. Also, his is hands down the best looking stock '93 Celica I've ever seen from paint to interior. Known Issues: -leaks oil, ot much but the leak is consistent -outside, river's door handle doesn't work, ust open through inside| -small crack in the middle of the front of the hood -scratch on the outside of the driver-side mirror -small scratches over the rest of the car, rom animals and overly friendly parallel parkers in the city -most, f not all of the rubber hoses and boots under the hood should be replaced -valve cover gasket should be replaced (have the part) -the running issue (below) -the interior is clean short of a few stains here and there that were there when I bought it -the temp gauge on the instrument panel is finicky, t works on and off, ut I have never had any issues with the temperature so I didn't worry about it -there are a few, ery small, un cracks in the vinyl on the door panels -small crack in the windshield -needs new wipers (the arms are a little rusty, usually just sand and repaint them) -the air vent near the driver-side window is broken, he thing that points air...doesn't.| -the ash tray rail is broken, he car was broken into and it was ripped out, oth are still with the car -the side mirrors don't adjust from inside anymore, 'm not too sure why, ut I just adjust them by hand when needed Pros: -When at 100%, t is SO much fun to drive. it literally sticks to the road. -The body is in incredible condition considering it's age and lack of garage keeping -It has an impressive amount of power for it's size -There is a surprising amount of trunk space -Working sunroof (a bit sluggish, ut the motor is new) -Factory fog lights, are for this generation -Like new Nitto Extreme performance tires ($115 apiece) -Haynes manual with car -Aftermarket CD stereo with classic iPod hookup run through the glove box **The Issue** Ok, t's a bit difficult to explain. I've had it looked at by 4 different mechanics and the dealer, ut the dealer tried to charge me to essentially gut it themselves since they didn't have the hookup for it's computer, nd the mechanics couldn't diagnose it any better. If you come look at it I can demonstrate. Anyway, fter starting it idles fine but it has a constant stutter as it revs up accompanied by what I would call a hiss. It is exponentially worse when in overdrive, ven if the car is in park. It has stalled out before, sually while accelerating through a turn. I have replaced the throttle position sensor, he MAP sensor, he throttle body, repaired a small hole in the intake tube, nd have had a mechanic check the codes, hich just left the air bag light on, he timing belt and components, he oil pressure sensor, he steering rack, nd various seals and small vacuum hoses, nd the fuel pump. I'm pricing the car based on an offer I received recently for the body alone. His intention was to gut it and upgrade the engine and drive train. Unfortunately I lost his number when I dropped my phone so that sucks...anyway, lowered my expectations based on what I could/would swing for a project car with this much potential. One thing I have learned from other toyota enthusiasts in the time that I have owned this is that a slow oil leak from the sideways mounted engines is apparently not an uncommon occurrence.
