Description for Toyota Celica 1980
1980 Toyota Celica ST, ne owner, purchased it new in May 1980 (original invoice aincluded). 141 k actual miles, .2 liter 20R engine, utomatic transmission, nterior completely redone in crème naugahyde. Seats are from '84 Celica, ngine rebuilt during a late 90's restoration I did with one of my kids, luminum wheels from a Supra but original steel wheels (with tires) included, orsion bar, eaders, -barrel Weber carb, emporary plastic fuel cell in trunk. Original radioinstalled plus an extra. Never driven hard, r by the kids except when I was with them.
Body:
During the 90's restoration the body was completely repaired and professionally painted in a midnight blue metallic (original color was "copper" ). There was rust along the bottom edge of the rear side windows. It was repaired but one side has re-rusted and needs attention. There are some othersmall rust areas, ostly at brackets and edges. Someone once sat on the trunk lid and cracked it. I have a complete replacement trunk lid but it isn't painted. Car was in one small accident; hit on the rear quarter panel in late '80's but repaired and no serious damage.
Gas tank:
The gas tank was flushed and coated during restoration, ut the fuel level sending mechanism continued to rust. I put a small plastic fuel cell in the trunk temporarily so I could start and run the engine without the filters getting clogged with rust. You should remove the sending unit (access panel in the trunk), lean it up and then reconnect the gas lines to the original tank.
Running Condition:
I last drove it in the Spring and it started, an and drove (very spunky). Tried to start it just now and it doesn't. Believe it to be the neutral safety switch since it had been getting flaky for some time. Issue is certainly electrical and not mechanical (two spare switches are on the extra transmissions).
Boxes and boxes of spare parts included. Over the years I scavenged lots of parts, ostly at salvage yards, ince I had two Celicas to restore and keep running ('78 and '80), lus a Supra.
Spare Parts Included:
Two automatic transmissions with torque converters, carburetor, carb rebuild kit, air cleaner assemblies, new rotors, new calipers, gnition coil, tarter, rive shaft (from '78), oxes of filters, ew brake pads, riginal exhaust system, runk lid (exc. condition but not painted to match the car), assenger side door, original steel wheels with good tires, ew custom fitted carpet (blue), oxes of trim, isc interior plastic pieces and panels, span>misc nuts, olts, rackets, eat belt assemblies, auges, indow mechanisms, eadlights, tc. Plus more stuff that I haven't inventoried. I will dispose of any unwanted spare parts for you.
Shop Manuals:
Original one volume shop manual that came with the car, volume 1980 Toyota repair shop manual set, volume Mitchell 1980 Toyota shop manual set, lus 1 volume Haynes book and 1 volume Clymer book.
I am moving and have multiple cars to sell and no more time to work on them. I've had this Celica for 35 years, ut just can't move it across the country with me.
Shipping:
Best is to pick it up with a car transporter and pickup truck, f you are close enough. You should assume the car to be non-running but I will try to replace the switch. The parts will be harder to ship and car transport companies probably won't take them with the car. If you are reasonably close, can meet you halfway with the parts. If paid for, he car and/or parts can sit where they are for a couple of months yet.
Please email questions and I will answer each evening after 6pm EST or on weekends, r send me your phone # and I'll call you back. I can't anticipate every question or guess what concern you might have. Please ask before bidding.
