Up for auction is an amazingly complete and untouched 1981 Toyota Pickup 4wd with 128,000 miles. This is the 22R Federal model with a 5spd transmission. All emission equipment is present and fully functional. Pickup starts, uns, rakes, hifts and stops flawlessly in all weather! I purchased this vehicle from the second owner who bought it in 1983 with 30,000 miles. It spent the majority of its life in Seattle and was used by a painting contractor until it was retired in 1997. The truck was used occasionally on dumps runs, o the hardware store, tc.
It had a steel ladder rack, iberglass canopy w/ fiberglass a bed liner, nd small step hitch bumper. All of the items have since been removed to reveal one of the cleanest beds I have ever come across. It has a few dents in the tailgate area and one on the hood from the mean streets of Seattle. The tailgate opens and closes with one finger ( a first for me!). This truck has never been in any auto accidents and there are zeros signs of body work, ondo, tc. Original paint has been compounded and waxed and it is beautiful (the pictures really capture this well). What little rust (< 1% of the truck) is present came from the years it spent outside and the water that dripped down from the steel ladder rack / bolts onto the rails and then rested in the corner under the fiberglass bed liner on the passenger side. I think its important to differentiate the type of corrosion as this truck has never seen a salty road.
In the last 12k miles the differential was serviced, lutch was replaced, our single gas charged shocks were added, s well as a complete tune up. Muffler and catalytic converter were recently replaced (pipe is now 2 1/4 "), ew heavy duty battery, ransmission fluid was changed and a heavier weight oil was added, acklash was adjusted, nd the tires are new with 100% tread. Carburetor was tuned, K & N air filter was added, nd the fuel filter was replaced. Engine is completely quiet at idle (can barely hear it inside the cabin), nd it does not smoke and or burn oil!
This pickup is truly one of a kind. It can literally be driven anywhere with confidence.Not bad for a 35 year old pickup! All the glass is crystal clear and seals are all holding up well. The interior is a bit worn in all of the usual Toyota places ( dash, peaker area, tc.). Has the hybrid bench seat that is missing the center console. Nice Kenwood tape deck (Belkin 3.5mm adapter included) with four Boston Acoustic speakers. All gauges read correctly as well. Has a full size spare but is missing the the jack and lug wrench.
