Description for Toyota Other 1989

You are bidding on a 1989 Toyota Pickup Deluxe, extended cab, 4WD, 2.4L 4-cylinder, with matching camper top.
I am officially the third owner, but the second owner was my father.
This truck was originally purchased by a family friend, who used it mainly for hauling canoes.
This was not a beater/work truck, and most of the miles were highway as is indicated by the lack of wear on the drivers seat. (pic)
Professionally installed roof racks that did not damage the headliner (pic) were added almost from day one to accommodate canoes. The matching camper top also has a rack, and was put on when the truck was new.
This truck shows that the mileage exceeds the mechanical limits, but this information is incorrect. Maintenance records, personal history, and known ownership attest to the veracity of this statement. That coupled with the fact that the odometer is working properly, and has never been replaced supports this as well. Once again, I can point to the lack of seat and/or door panel and interior wear as indicators of actual mileage: 129,500
Glass and regulators are good. Mechanically, the truck is excellent. Tires were replaced when I took ownership, and have about 7 to 8k miles on them.
This truck has minimal rust as it was used for most of its life in north central Texas..... away from salt and snow. It has been in Alexandria, VA for just a few years, and I have only put 7 to 8 thousand miles on it.
The rust showing on the drivers side rear bed area is due to a tailpipe that should have been replaced before it was. I was not aware of the impact of caustic exhaust gas on steel panels. It will cause what you see in the picture. This, however, is not indicative of a truck with rust issues, as the under carriage, and the backing plates (pic) on the rear wheels are all in outstanding condition. I have not attempted to paint, or cover any details up. I'd rather that you see as it is. That being said, the rear lower bed side will need some repair, but this is essentially a rust free solid example of a hi-lux.
The dashboard has a few cracks in it, I believe from the time this truck was in Texas and sat in the sun quite a bit. Structurally, it is sound.
For those that know, a hi-lux is NOT a Tacoma. These are much stronger, last much longer, and this particular truck was built in Japan.

I have added a cd player and speakers. I did not cut holes in the door panels as some do, but put them in their original locations.
Cruise was after market, and does not appear to be working. The a/c is original r-12, and is working but not blowing as cold as it should be. Toward the end of last summer it was closer to lukewarm. I have not had it re-charged, as you may want to convert to a newer refrigerant.
Also included: original factory tools/jack kit and spare tire, bed liner (spray on type), heavy duty rubber floor mats (front cab only), maintenance records, original truck manuals and camper top literature.
A rare opportunity to own one of the last examples of the vaunted Toyota Hilux pickups. Reserve is at a low $4500.
