Description for Toyota Land Cruiser 1979

Stop the presses, turn off facebook, and great ready to activate your Instagram account, because I am about to offer you something better than a 60 point come from behind final game of your NBA career. Reluctantly and against better judgment, I am offering for Sale my 1979 RHD Bj40. For those you who know what I am talking about (I'm looking at you Ih8mud) proceed with caution. But for those of you who don't, this is like getting your first hit of smack for free, before becoming a fully addicted crack head willing to turn tricks for another hit of freedom AKA BECOMING A CRUISERHEAD.
So, If you are looking for a head-turning 40 series capable of surviving the Zombie apocalypse or a no nonsense prepper vehicle/daily driver with a propensity for getting dirty, lost and off the grid then look no further. The name alone is more rugged than anything ever made on 4 wheels. Say it out loud "LANDCRUISER". . . the name is so much more than "scout, Bronco, or JEEP" those just don't satisfy your inner Lewis and Clark or Sir Shackleton for exploration. Am I biased, HELL YES but that's the point. Once you slide behind the seat, you will be too.
This Bj40 is Chuck Norris's foreign Aussie cousin who instead of driving it's powerful roundhouse kick from the left, drives his legendary roundhouse from the right (RHD) straight through the Earth with the force of a Thor's hammer and Hulk's rage. Just like Chuck Norris these Landcruisers never age. Their bones are unbreakable, their abilities is world-renowned and the coolness factor is immeasurable.
If your man card needs a stamp, this will fill the page with plenty of manliness left over to kick a Wolverine in the nuts while you thumb wrestle a honey badger for the rights to the animal kingdom. Your Chest hair will have the strength of high tensile steel, your home will instantly have more curb appeal, and you will immediately be the envy of the neighborhood. Let's just call it what it is, you will be Bon-a-fide.
If you're a woman and your chick card needs a stamp, this BJ40 will up your hotness factor 10 fold, break your tinder app, temporarily turn all gay men into straight men pining for your affection while simultaneously bequeathing all their beauty and fashion secrets to you. Yes this is the power this BJ40 will bring to your life.
Damn I don't want to sell her, or even need to, but if I want to pull the greatest scam ever on my wife this is how it will go down. The reason I am selling is we "need" solar panels for our house to stick it to the man. . . but with the money left over we "should" get a bigger "Beach/mountain/FUN car" (her words not mine) to replace the BULL(what I call the BJ40). . .. So I have been eyeballing troopy's and have her convinced to get one to replace the Bull after we do the solar install. So that being said this is the only reason I am selling, or I would keep her, do a frame up and enjoy the shit out of living like a modern day Mad Max. So here are the details
The Nitty Gritty.
The Pros:
• She's a landcruiser- enough said
• She has an upgraded 13b Diesel engine. Yes you read that correctly- 120hp instead of 90hp- All done in Aussie land with all supporting paperwork. She has no T(urbo) but you can add one to make her a 13b-t.
• She is my most efficient vehicle averaging 22-25mpg depending on driving conditions
• She has a great stance. . . I replace her aging suspension a few years go with the 2 inch SOR lift, heavy duty springs, tri shackles, pro comp shocks etc. (have 3 of the 4 older leaf springs to throw in) if you need them
• Have replaced tie rod, and tie rod ends.
• Front disc conversion with extra set of brand new birfields (have the old drums, brake booster etc to throw in)
• Full Float rear end
• An extra front bumper
• Replaced the alternator
• Dual battery set up
• Replaced the Clutch and transfer case (Fine Spline) installed several years ago.
• Primary and secondary fuel filters (extra fuel filters on hand as well)
• New thermostat
• New rear drive shaft
• Extra radiator hose included
• Licensed and registered in the State of California with registration through Jan 2017- has been registered here for the last 8 years- difficult to get through if you are buying somewhere else.
• Smog exempt
• Driver seat completely new upholstery
• Yakima High bar roof rack (use it for my surfboards)
• Cranks every time and has never left me stranded.
• All glass is in excellent condition and looks great
• Title in hand
CONS
• Doesn't have rear jump seats- has slider storage system instead (not really a con)
• Starting to show some surface rust- would repaint and fix any of that before it is a problem- hood has worst of the rust.
• No headliner, took it out and never replaced
• Passenger seat has cracked upholstery
• Left rear ambulance door needs to have lower spring locking mechanism replaced(have the part haven't had time to do it)
• One of the offroad light bulbs is burned out- easy fix I know
• Aussie CB that doesn't work in the US but I left it in, because, well why not
• Radio broke on my last trip and haven't bothered to replace because I didnt really use it.
• RHD(not really a con but for someone it might be)
• Not Locked
Not looking for a trade as I have to make it "seem" like the solar panels come first. . . but honestly a troopy is my burning desire and am fully supported by my wife after the solar panels of course.
So I am offering my rig for $28,000 OBO. All the paperwork to register in the state was done a long time ago, title in hand, and almost all major work done by Jim Dickey landcruiser specialist here in the Southbay of Los Angeles. This rig is ready to go and I would not hesitate to drive it across country or through the woods. No scammers or trade. I am selling as is, and there is no warranty. Please know what you are bidding on, this vehicle is 36 years old.
