Description for Toyota Land Cruiser 1974

I am helping a family friend post his FJ40, 3 speed manual transmission, with factory heater.
I am a die hard Toyota fan and former Toyota master technician and current Lexus Master tech. I don't think you could find a bettercandidatefor a FJ40 restoration than this. Thisis a true barn find! You don't hear that often with Toyotas. As you will hear in his story below, after buying it he drove it a little while and then just parked it in his garage. When they asked me to help them get it started it had been sitting for about 10 years (so it almost went from one barn to another). I expected to have to rebuild thecarburetorand replace/clean the gas tank, but what I found was amazing. When i removed theplug for thecarburetor bowl there was no varnish from old fuel inside. All I did was add someSea Foam, gasoline, new battery, and starter fluid and it started right up without very much cranking at all. There was no knocking or smoking. The hoses going to the air filter housing for PCV are still soft! The interior is all original except for the gun racks that the previous owners installed. The exterior is the original paint! The winch on the front does require repair.
This FJ is being sold as is. In my professional opinion it could be easily ready for the road or ready for full restoration. There is rust holes in the removable top but he has a soft top that he will include with the sale, plus there are companies that offer replacement panels for that top. There is some rust holes in the right side floor board that i took picture of but everything else is surface rust. My friend put on fresh tires sometime since 2000, I don't remember the year off of the DOT on there but the tread depth is great and they hold air. Reserve will be set low so don't bid if you aren't ready to buy. It is up to the winner to arrange transportation (if its going to be put on a transport truck it needs to be setup as not driving as I feel the brakes require restoration before being considered road worthy and don't want anything to happen while transported and all fluids need to be changed. The vehicle is in a suburban neighborhood where a 18 wheeler could not drive into FYI. I could help get it to the nearest main street though.) Method of payment is 500 non refundable deposit through paypal and then the rest in cash at the owner's bank.

The following is my friend's story of how he found it in his own words-
I found the Landcruiser out in Brenham Texas with the intention of restoring it but I do not have the ability to do this on my own like I would like. So it is time to find it a new home and have someone dedicate some time to restore this original :FJ40 to its original glory. I bought it from a company in Brenham Texas. It was use in an environmental company and after the company closed down it was stored in the owners barn. Actually this is one of 2 FJ40 they own. The owner was a lady whose husband passed away so she decided to sell bioth FJ, so I bought the one that looked the best. I bought it in 2000 and drove it around for a little bit but since then it has been sitting in my garage in Sugar Land. There is practically no rust on the body at all except for a hole on the passenger side floor panel. other than that there is just some surface rust. Other than that it is a great candidate to restore.
