Description for Toyota Cressida 1979
This 1979 Toyota Cressida is a dry climate car with only 74,000 miles since new. Its originalityremains intact, aside from a few drivability and comfort modifications. The factory carburetorhas been swapped for an authentic Weber carb and the original smog equipment has been removed. The smog equipment will be included with sale. Otherwise, the 4M inline 6 backed by an automatic transmission, remains stock and has a freshly rebuilt head and head gasket.
Paint on the car is factory original with the exception of the right side rear quarter panel. The interior is in near original condition and shows no signs of wear. Beautiful plush gray velour seats accented with a blue/green factory carpet, contrast beautifully with the light blue metallic body. The dash pad is perfect with no cracking or fading. The car does not have the original radio and the speakers appear to have been upgraded in the 80s with aftermarket ones mounted in the door panels. However, this installation suits the interior well and doesn't appear out of place. Wheels have been changed from steel stock wheels to a set of 15X7 Rota Shakotans. Inspired by the Hayashi Street wheel of the 1980s,this gives the car a distinct JDM influence. The wheels are wrapped in almost new Yokohama S Drive tires giving the car comfortable, but still responsive handling.
This Cressida runs and drives great, and has been fully gone through toassurecontinued trouble free driving. I could imagine a new owner either finding original wheels to complete the factory look of the car or tastefully lowering it for a true JDM style Shakotan cruiser.
This generation Cressida is becoming harder to find and is a unique Japanese classic car that you can use to take the whole family to cars and coffee, cruise night or a weekend away.
