Description for Toyota Land Cruiser 1980
When I was in High School, This Cult classic was my dads daily driver!
In the Florida winters, I would often be dropped off shivering at school in what my friends liked to call "the door-less wonder"
(it had/has doors, dad just wasn't cold...)
It wasn't long before dad had to park this cool cruiser for a Toyota with an automatic transmission, as his "bad hip" wouldn't tolerate any more clutching.
Soon the tub rotted out as they often do, and we decided to begin a father-son restoration project.
Dad ordered a new tub from Aqualu and when it arrived we stripped off the old body.
We quickly realized the frame was in need of some rust abatement and the project fizzled out.
I now know that Aqualu produces replacement frames as well, but with little ones of my own, I'll have no time for this project for years to come.
By the time I/we get around to it this FJ will be too rusty to save.
This may be your opportunity to purchase an Aqualu tub for your own Landcruiser project, without paying the freight and broker fees to have it delivered.
As a bonus, you get a whole heap of spare parts, (some better than others) an original drive train and a clean Florida title.
This FJ comes with a "new old stock" aged, but unmodified Aqualu tub, Part number 4006.
Drivetrain is still attached to the frame, which is too rusty to use.
The engine turns over "by hand" with a large wrench, but hasn't run in years and the whole drive train will need to be gone through.
No issues when parked, other than the fact that my dads hip got too "bad" to permit him to drive stick, but again, it has been sitting a long while...
I'm sure there are some parts that I forgot to photograph. The only things I know are missing are the radiator, the fuel tank and the front seats. If you don't see it, ask...
