Description for Toyota Land Cruiser 1970
1970 TOYOTA FJ 40 LAND CRUISERToyota Land Cruiser prices have beenappreciating quickly over the last few years. So much so that full restoration examples are bringing $30,000-$40,000. Don't think this FJisn't worth the investmentbecause it is and is probably one of the more solid examples available for sale. Just add a coat of paint andyou'd be right in that realm. We were able toprocure this example from California and are able to offer it at an extremelyreasonable price.
This 1970 FJ is extremely solid andhonest example of an FJ with a little added horses under the hood. This FJ 40 is a California barn find Hot Rodpowered by a Ford FE 390 motor adapted to the FJ original 3 speed manual transmission. It is some what of a sleeper due to its exterior stock appearance. The FJ runs and drives very well and does not over heat even in 100 degreeweather or in bumper to bumper traffic. It is completely roadworthy as she sits right now down to the brand new BFG's on her. We have had her out all around town and not only is she a head turner she is a blast to drive. She is ready to conquer anyterrain and has plenty of torque to master any trail or hill in her way. This would make a great trail or huning vehicle just the way it sits. I can not stress enough howreliable anddrivable this FJ 40 is.
Although not a freshlyrestored FJ, she does have quite a fewfresher items and what really makes her stand out from thecrowd are hernice bodypanels. This FJ 40 has a straight body and very nice hard top, rust free doors, and solid floors. I am impressed with the overall condition of this FJ and how well the doors and rear barn doors operate and fit.You will notice on the passenger door where the paint chipped off it looks like rust but its only surface and the door is solid just like the driver's side. The padded dash does have some cracks in it but overall the interior is really a gem. Take a look at thephotographs and let us know if you have anyquestions.
This is a great opportunity to buy one that is well built and runs great and is stillaffordable. The front drive works as does the transfer case which make it idea for off-road use with the added torque of the 390 motor. Also the heater works really job!
Please feel free to set up an appointment to see and drive this FJ. If your in the market for one that you can drive and have fun with, once you see it in person this will be the one! Please email us with any questions.
FJ HISTORY
Appropriately, the FJ Land Cruiser formed the backbone of the Toyota brand and became the emissary of Japanese engineering and much of the world’s first experience with Toyota. The FJ was decidedly a military vehicle at first–like the Jeep and Land Rover–but quickly spread worldwide as a fantastic method of transporting people or cargo in places that didn’t have well-maintained roads (or any at all!) for uses as varied as farming to ambulances to deserts to rock climbing. After making it up to the 6th station of Mt. Fuji on ashowcase run in 1951, the FJ captured the attention of not only groups like the Japanese Forest Service but also makers of Jeep. Successive FJ models morphed from the brusque military style to a more comfortable and functional ride with improvements like more room in the interior as well as softer springs.
