Description for Toyota Land Cruiser 1990
Ah, where do I start . . . I'm selling my faithful 1990 FJ62 to some lucky buyer. I'm just not getting to use the old rascal nearly as much as I want to, so it needs to go to someone who will.Don't let the 250k miles scare you off from this truck--if you know these trucks, you know it's just getting warmed up. And this Straight 6 still pulls strong. I'm the second owner and I have had this machine for a little over a year (I've had a '70, '77, and an '84 BJ60 too) and I can tell that the first owner babied this truck. He bought it new and drove it mostly between NYC and Upstate NY on the highway, rarely taking it off the beaten path (though he did drive in PA on the backroads, something akin to off-roading at times). He clearly kept in a garage most of the time. He meticulously changed the oil, transmission fluid in the A440, greased all the bushings, and changed the differential oil when it needed it. I know this because my mechanic was the one who did it. So, the drive train is top-notch. 4 Wheel drive works and everything runs as it should.
Body: this charmer is not a show truck. That being said, I'm not asking a show-truck price. Look around on eBay and you will see these trucks from 3k (rusted out) to 24k (admittedly pristine). This truck has the normal scrapes of a 27 year old vehicle. It doesn't have the extreme rust on the rear wheel wells that many FJs have. There is a spot behind the driver's front wheel that has been repaired and one on the passenger's rear wheel well. Neither repair is great looking, but each will halt the rust. If the repairs do not meet your approval, you can easily find a front fender in white from cruiserparts.net ($500.) and a body panel for the rear right from coolcruisers.com ($350.). Even if you bought those and had the entire truck re-painted, you'd still have less in the truck than if you bought one that cost twice as much. The only really problematic place is the Toyota emblem over the back license plate. The chrome has come off and it's rusted, but that too can be economically replaced.
Interior: decent Sony stereo, though the included back speakers don't really fit in their spots. The cloth on all the seats, while a little worn and slightly dirty in spots, is intact and un-torn. The window motors operate slowly, but the driver's front window is the only one that will not go down--those motors can be purchased relatively cheaply on several Cruiser Parts websites. The carpet is worn but intact--it's a 27 yr old truck.
Undercarriage: Not pristine, but there is only minimal surface rust. I didn't take any pictures of it because it was raining when I took the pics, but I can email them or add them once this infernal rain stops sometime in July.
I'm not asking a fortune, but I don't have to sell it, so I'm not giving it away either. The Reserve is pretty low. I'll entertain any reasonable offer, but don't waste our time with some ridiculous low-ball offer--that'd just be embarrassing.
For sale As Is, with no warranty explicit or implied. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I'll need a $500. non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 48hrs of Auction end. This truck is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the sale early. Good Luck!
