Description for Toyota Other 1984
Up for sale is my 1984 Toyota SR5 regular cab 4 X 4 pick-up. I purchased it in the spring of 2015 from the 2nd owner. It belonged to his next door neighbor of many years and was a 1 owner truck until January 2015. I purchased it with 90,280 miles. It currently has 90,986 miles, so I have put 700 or so miles on it in 2 ½ years. That is why I am selling it. I have 11 other vehicles plus a company car and I really hate to sell it but I also just hate to let it sit. I am afraid that leaving it idle for months at a time will eventually cause it to deteriorate. It spent it entire life in southern California until spring of 2015 and has never seen salt or snow here in Indiana.
Mechanical
Engine runs great. No ticks, misses or rattles. Timing chain is quiet. No drive line noises or vibrations. No leaks, sits inside on a concrete floor for the last 900 days and has not left a drop. Shifts up and down with no grinding. Clutch is good. No throw – out bearing noise…engages and disengages correctly. No noise from transfer case, transmission or axles. Good brakes with no pull or pulsation. Strong brake pedal. Parking brake works as designed. Motor runs cool even with A/C on in 90 ° weather .Carries good oil pressure cold or hot. Can sit for weeks and battery does not lose charge. When I got it I changed the oil, oil filter, plugs, cap, rotor, air filter and installed new tires. I also checked all the fluid levels in the axles, transmission and transfer case and they were full and clean. Does not lose or use coolant. Steering is precise and does not pull or wander. No vibrations on the road. Front axle pivot points do not leak oil and the “sweeps” are clean. If it sits for weeks you need to pump pedal to start…. It’s carbureted and has a mechanical fuel pump if anyone remembers that.
Electrical/HVAC
Everything works. A/C blows cold even on a 90 ° day idling in traffic. Heat blows hot. Air comes out of the correct vents. The cruise control works. The radio works. The clock works. Horn works. Key buzzer works. Dome light works. All of the gauges, tachometer, speedometer, odometer work. The instrument cluster lighting works. Headlight bright and low beam work. Tail lights, brake lights, turn signals and flashers work. Wipers and windshield washer work. Windows are manual and roll up and down smoothly.
Body-Paint-Interior
Paint is driver- plus quality. There is no fade or delamination. It is as good as any 33-year-old truck can be that has been driven. The undercarriage is spotless. There is no rust at all- no previous rust, no repaired rust and none starting. The frame is spotless. When I got the truck it had an aluminum cap on it and a frame/ plywood bed built into it….literally a bed to sleep on. It was never used for hauling anything but camping and fishing gear. As such the inside of the bed is very nice. There are a few minor dings in the body, but it is 33 years old. This truck was always kept inside, so the weather stripping, window sweeps and glass run channel are all pliable and soft. You can see the pictures that it has the rare sport seating option with bucket instead of bench seating. The seats have a few minor blemishes, but overall are nice and still comfortable. Both shifter boots show some wear. The door panels are in good condition as is the dash and instrument cluster. The headliner is pulling away at the rear of the cab, but it is not drooping. All the glass is in good condition. The tilt steering works and has no wobbles. The windshield has some light pitting, but it is the original and still has the Toyota nomenclature with all the Toyota specs on the lower right side. The doors and the tailgate all open and close like new. The doors lock and unlock correctly and the key works in the door. The driver side bedside has been repainted at some time and it is a slightly different shade than the rest of the truck. You may not be able to see it in pictures, but you can in person so make note of this. When I got the truck I removed both the inner bedside panels which are bolted to the bed with machine screws to inspect the innards… this is where they all Toyota bed rust begins and it was spotless on both sides including the seam area.
Summary
This is a rare truck with the SR5 options. Not many were made with A/C, cruise control, tilt wheel and chrome wheels, grille and bumpers with sport seating. It is somewhat unusual to find an unmodified one intact. Although it is very nice it, is not new and it is not perfect. I believe the miles are original at 90,986. Autocheck/Carfax show this truck registered in Arizona one time as not actual miles. I think this is a clerical or reporting error but I do not know if its correctable at this point….goes back to 2014 I think. My Indiana title shows actual miles and the previous California title, which I have a copy of, is also actual miles. Both Carfax and Autocheck clearly show that miles follow a pattern that is accurate and sequential and support the odometer reading. If this is a concern for you, please bid accordingly or not at all… Whether your state will accept the miles as actual or exempt I cannot say. Some states will exempt anything over 10 years old and every state is different. I have a copy of the
Carfax if you need it. Free and clear actual miles Indiana title in my name. Copies of all paperwork available to winning bidder before payment if desired. Police inspection done on vehicle and title when I purchased it .State law in Indiana requires it on out-of-state vehicles. Cash or wire transfer. No personal checks . No trades whatsoever. Cashier’s check possible with verification. I will not deliver it…pick up in person or I will assist a shipper or designated transportation entity. Questions call 574-78O-8639. Call or text. WILL NOT END AUCTION EARLY AND NO BUY IT NOW. Emails discouraged because not likely to see them on a timely basis. Winning bidder please contact me within 24 hours.
