Description for Toyota Hilux 1971
Up for sale is arare one owner, all original 1971 Toyota HiLux pickup with only 97K . The truck was purchased earlier this summer as a project from the original owner who had purchased the truck brand new in October 1971. Everything is there including the owners manual, headliner, mudflaps and factory breather cover. This truck doesn't appear to have been modified in any way except for the addition of aftermarket chrome rims and the roll-bar.The original owner stated the the truck has been sitting for the last two years so I had it towed to my home. Once home, I added a new battery, fresh gasoline and emptied the old gas from the carburetor bowls. I then pulled the manual truck and the truck started and ran well, no smoking or engine noises of any kind. Cosmetically, the truck has only light surface rust but no obvious rusted out holes except for the rocker panels below the doors, they are shot. Below are the must haves and will need to be completed before driving any distance safely:
The truck does need the following:
1) Carburetor needs to be rebuilt as the float seems to be sticking. A new Walker rebuild kit is included.2) The clutch needs to be bled. (Soft pedal)- original owner said a new clutch was installed at 70K3) The drivers side window glass is missing.4) The windshield has a small 3-4 inch crack at the top on the passenger side.4) Tires all hold air but may be dry rotted from sitting.
Feel free to ask any questions as the summer has come to an end and my project needs to find a new home. Thanks for looking.
