Description for Toyota Land Cruiser 1969
Up for auction is a rare 1969 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Longbed pickup. Showing 17,000 miles but true mileage is unknown. Very few of these around as they were not sold here in the US in 1969 to the best of our knowledge.Truck is almost entirely stock with most everything intact and functioning at this time. It retains a factory inline six cylinder and a three speed transmission with floor shift. Transfer case has high and low range four wheel drive options with original floor shift. Engine was said to have been rebuilt and starts instantly and runs excellent with no smoke or issues. Truck starts, runs and drives down the road as it should but it is a 50 year old unrestored Land Cruiser and it rides and drives like a classic FJ. The Chassis, suspension, steering and brakes etc are all original components that remain unmodified but functioning as is. Frame is very solid throughout some of which was partially repainted when bed was removed and reinstalled. The wiring is original also but has had various lighting, accessories etc added and removed over the years and aftermarket ignition switch so it could stand some minor attention. Battery is new.The body on this truck had the usual rust issues Land Cruisers are famous for. Much of these issues were repaired with fiberglass to avoid further rusting issues and the vehicle looks very respectable at this point but will still need some work to complete prior to repainting. There are still some spots underneath which were sprayed with undercoat to prevent further issues. If you are looking to do a full nut and bolt restoration on the truck as many do it would obviously need to be stripped entirely and have the body reevaluated. Body is currently partially painted in gray lacquer primer with some of the original paint showing as well. The bed of the truck and the interior floor boards were sprayed with rhino type bedliner coating years ago by a previous owner and there are a few spots where moisture has gotten between the two and caused some blistering due to surface rust. Bed rails and main floor are otherwise in good shape, see pics with bed off. Hard top and doors are solid and complete as is the glass and windshield however the rubber seals are very dry. The lower windshield frame has some surface rust at the seam where it meets the body. Doors and hood have all hardware and function as they should. Truck has the original headache/cargo rack behind the cab in great condition which is a rare find. Grill is complete with a stout custom fit brush guard for protection of grill and signals. Note: New front turn signals are not installed in the pictures but I will have them on prior to sale of the vehicle. The factory wheels with hubcap clips have been blasted and refinished prior to adding a brand new set of super swamper mud and snow tires for the vintage appearance and outstanding off road traction. Tires have less than 50 miles on them. The interior of the truck is almost entirely stock with original split bench seats that are in great condition showing no major damage. Dashboard, instrument panel and all controls are still intact and working as they should including the heater, wipers etc Aftermarket floor mount stereo system with aux speakers that is not currently working, just left it there because of the unique mount which eliminates the need to cut up the dashboard for installation, see pics it is on floor between seat and shifter. Door panels are complete with all the hardware and access covers etc in place. Interior floor boards have been coated with bedliner spray as I mentioned earlier.Overall this classic FJ45 is a excellent candidate for restoration or to use as an every day driver. It turns heads everywhere you go and is a lot of fun to drive. These classic Toyotas are known for being very capable off road and with the added luxury of a full pickup bed it is the best of both worlds. This is a very complete and mostly original example that does not come available very often. Completely restored these vehicles sell for $60K-75K and more and very few 1969 models to be had at any price. We have clear title in hand.
