Description for Toyota Celica 1980
For questions, please call Doug -- 913-461-4890. I will be glad to talk with you in detail and answer any questions you have.If you're into Toyotas, Celicas, convertibles, or just really unique or rare cars, this one is worth a serious look. This is 1 of only 500 '80 Celicas converted under license of Toyota by Griffith Motor Corporation into a targa convertible. It was a completely engineered effort, including reinforced A-pillars and front windshield frame, reinforced fiberglass targa top, structurally rigid roll bar, and plenty of undercarriage bracing and gussetting. You could order this car right inside the Toyota dealership, and was a $3000 option on a car that retailed for $7-8k originally, so this was not a cheap conversion.
This car has been exceptionally well maintained and has less than 90k original miles. The legendary 20R 4- cylinder runs flawlessly, and EVERYTHING on this car works, down to the factory AM/FM radio and every light, gauge, heater, and option--even the digital quartz clock keeps good time.
Want a car with a bulletproof driveline and is impervious to the zombie apocolypse? This is the one! lol
It's had a new carburetor, clutch, throw out bearing, slave cylinder, shocks, springs, belts, hoses, exhaust, and tires installed in the past 5 years. It also comes with an original Haynes service manual for Celicas, plus lots of other history, literature, and receipts for work done. It starts so easy you'd swear it was fuel injected.
The red paint is a color change (originally brown) and shows nice, and this body is 99.5% rust free and has never had body work or panels replaced beyond the work needed to repaint it. The factory luggage rack even has original oak strips.
This car is reliable enough to drive any distance, any time. Needs nothing. Car is every bit as clean in person as shown in the pics. You'll likely never see one of these for sale again in this condition for less than what's being asked. It's estimated less than 100 are still roadworthy today.
TERMS OF SALE: A $500 deposit is due within 3 business days of auction close, and full payment is due within 7 business days, no exceptions unless authorized by seller. Please have all permissions (financial and otherwise) granted BEFORE making an offer or hitting BUY IT NOW. Title is clean and clear and ready to be transferred. All sales are binding and final. Vehicle is sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" without expressed or implied warranties. I've tried to give a complete, thorough review of this car, but please, ASK QUESTIONS if there is something you're not sure about. I can't possibly cover every last detail of concern to every interested party. I welcome personal and hired inspections; however, I cannot be responsible for your lack of due diligence. People often ask if classic vehicles I sell on ebay can be driven home, and normally I always say it's best to trailer an old classic until you know it better. But I would have no hesitation to drive this car any distance home and I think it would make it just fine. Having said that, if you'd like to ship the car, I can recommend a good and fair shipper who can deliver the car to your driveway, but buyer is responsible for those costs. No other charges will be added to the car's price--the amount we agree to is all you will pay. Thanks and good luck.
