Description for Triumph Other 1973
1973 Triumph GT6 - Non RotoflexHISTORYI purchased this GT6 in 2012 from a gentleman who decided to sell it out of his british collection simply because of his height, he GT6 was the hardest for him to get in and out of. During his possession, t was stored in a climate controlled storage garage. He purchased it years prior from the man who restored it, am not 100% sure but I would guess from receipts, he restoration was performed in the mid through late 90's. I have never driven the car in the rain or on wet roads, t has always been garage stored since I acquired it. Since I purchased it, have only added about 1000 miles to it, t truly has been a sunday driver.
I have a folder full of receipts from both the previous owners which includes the restoration parts and build. This GT6 is rust free, s you can see in the pictures, he body is very straight as well as the floor pans. Also with this vehicle comes a box of various hoses, elts, uel pump, il filter relocation kit, hermostat and other various engine parts, ll new. In addition a model specific car cover and original manual will be included in the sale.
THE CARAs stated above, his GT6 is a rust free non-rotoflex model and has been restored several years ago and well taken car of since. The color is Pimento and the interior is Brown/light brown. The condition of the body is very good, aint is very good and gets many comments how nice and smooth the paint is. The interior is in good condition but could use some love, had intentions of converting it to all black but never got to it myself. The wood dash is in great condition and the dash pad is crack free. The headliner is in excellent condition with no rips or stains.
The chrome bumpers are very smooth and shiny, owever on the right rear area right above the tailpipes, t appears someone rubbed a small 2x2 inch area with something abrasive, ts not bad but something I do feel I should at least mention.
The engine is clean, ot perfect, ut it is clean. It has had the Crane electronic ignition installed and has had a recent tune up. The car itself runs great, t cruises down the highway pretty smooth at around 2500 RPM at 65 MPH, t is a 4 speed non overdrive, ut I recall hearing that the gearing has been changed for better highway driving. The car drives straight and solid. It shifts easily and smoothly, o grinding in any gear, pshifting or downshifting.
The tires are still very low miles, hey are Kumho touring tires on steel rims. The exterior rubber trim is good.
This car in my opinion is a very nice example of a GT6, t starts right up, verytime. Runs smoothly, rives smoothly and shifts smoothly, n a British car understanding of course, his car will not be like a new car you may own. If you have owned one of these old british cars, hen you already know how fun and entertaining they are to drive.
Now the big question you may be asking. If this car is so great, hy are you selling it?Well there is a story to it, owned a 1967 GT6 in highschool, t was giving to me by my father. I had sold it years and years ago and always regretting that decision. In 2011, y father passed away and I purchased this one in memory of him. It wasnt the same year as the one he gave me, ut it was a very fine example of a GT6. So I purchased it, have loved every minute of driving it, ut I had back surgery about 9 months ago, ue to that, t is simply too hard for me to get in and out of the car without hurting my back. With that on top of only putting around 1000 miles on it in nearly 4 years, just feel it should move on to someone who can really enjoy it.
Again, his has been a great car, t looks great and is always a head turner everytime I drive it.
