Description for Triumph TR-6 1974
Thisauction is for an excellent driving, ery original, otally rust free, ery complete, R6. Being an original overdrive car makes this a very desirable vehicle. Looking around this car there is absolutely no evidence of it ever having been in an accident. All area's inside the fenders front and back, here you expect to find the odd ripple or missing hardware, re amazingly straight and correct. The floors and underbody are dry, ndamaged and rust free. It has a very nice deep shine and only a few tiny stone chips, n the front. This car has no rust and never has had any rust repairs that I can see. The doors close nicely and the panel fit is excellent for one of these cars. Chrome is in very good condition it really sparkles in the sun. The windshield has a few small chips and one about larger one in the lower center area but it is not very noticeable when driving. Originally a good solid, ery straight California car ( its orig plates are included and are in the trunk) it was sold to a British car specialist in Canada and over a couple of years was treated to a complete bare metal repaint with good quality base-clearcoat in the original Mimosa Yellow. The paint under the hood is still the original factory paint and the color match is perfect. The interior was re-done with all new panels, eat kits, arpet etc. The convertible top was replaced with a top quality Robbins item, hich is still in very good shape. The rubber seals look like were also replaced at this time. Mechanically it was completely gone through as well, aving had the following work; Engine, Completely rebuilt cylinder head using new guides and satellite valves. New rings and crank bearings along with afresh oil pump and spin on oil filter conversion. Drive train, Resealed differential, ompletely overhauled transmission and overdrive, ew clutch. Suspension, All new bushings front and rear along with tie rod ends and front ball joints. On top of this the car was thoroughly gone over and any issues were taken care of at that time. Since then it has covered about 5 thousand miles. Always garaged and never driven in harsh conditions. I drive a lot of these cars and this is honestly one of the nicest TR6's I have driven. It starts easily from cold on the choke and warms up with no fuss or drivability issues. It does not overheat or run-on when turned off. The engine is very smooth and quiet, ore powerful than most and has good oil pressure. There is no sign of any smoke from the exhaust and has a very even idle. The clutch is exceptionally smooth as is the transmission. The gears fall easily to hand with no grinding and the overdrive works very well dropping in firmly. The diff is quiet and there is none of the common clunking from the rear drive shafts. This aspect of the car helps to make it such a pleasure to drive. The brakes feel good, ull the car up straight with no drama or squealing and the handbrake works well. The suspension is supple and has no unwanted knocks or bonks and the steering light and precise. The wheel is straight and the indicators self cancel. From the cockpit the dash is in very good shape looks to be original and has some small chips around the glovebox door. All the gauges and electrical items work correctly. The seats adjust as they are supposed to and there is a useful emergency hood release on the passenger side if needed. There is a very slight rattle on occasion from the passenger door, t sounds like the glass, ut other than that it has an unusually tight feel to it. The car is currently registered in Georgia as the owner has residency there. It is back in CA now after making the drive down from Canada last month. Underneath there are the usual signs of small oil leaks but overall quite dry for one of these cars. Other small flaws are that the front spoiler has a small scrape on the right front and has broken around the mounting bolt on that side. A few of the plastic snaps on the convertible top cover need to be replaced, he rear bumper chrome is showing it's age and there are some marks on the bottom of rocker panel at the right front where a careless mechanic has used a jack. Mechanically I would probably suggest changing the cooling hoses as a precaution although not leaking they look a bit on the older side. The only other thing that I can find wrong with it is that the leather gear knob is starting to get a little loose! It sits on a set of 205-70 x15 Michelin tyres with only a few thousand miles on them — they were changed after the current owner purchased the car. It also comes with a convenient cockpit cover to keep the heat and dust out when parked. To recap this car is an excellent daily driver that looks great and drives extremely well. It has been very well maintained by its fastidious current owner. It will keep appreciating due to its accident free body and originality. It would even probably score well in a local show. As always I would recommend viewing or driving this car if at all possible, lease call 310 833 1525 for an appointment. Bid to buy with confidence, y descriptions tend to be a little harsh so, he car will not disappoint. We have sold many British Cars on e-bay, ll buyers leavingexcellent feedback.
