Description for Triumph TR-6 1973

Shoving a big engine in a small car isn't a new formula, ut the Triumph TR6 is one of the most affordable ways to do it. This slick 1973 TR6 resto-mod has a bunch of smart upgrades that make the most of the burly inline-six under the hood without diluting its classic British roadster personality.Originally plain old white, his one was repainted three years ago using Tahiti Blue, correct TR6 color. Of course, ou can plainly see that there are a few other mods, hich give the slick little roadster a unique look that still looks very traditional. Finish quality is quite good, etter than what they were doing in '73 at the factory, nd the vivid blue paint certainly suits the extroverted little convertible rather well. Doors fit well, he body lines are crisp, nd it doesn't look like this car was ever wrecked or rusty. The grille was fitted with a set of oversized driving lights and a lot of the chrome trim was shaved, o it looks purposeful, nd the slender rubber bumpers are the preferred look on these cars. Slightly flared fenders accommodate oversized rubber, hich only accentuates the tough little bulldog stance and makes a big difference in the handling department.Inside, he stock buckets are gone, eplaced by a set of black vinyl chairs from an early '90s Mazda Miata, nd obviously the fit is a good one. You'll note that the paint job was a full disassembly, ince there's no trace of the original white finish, ven on the door jambs, nd the blue extends into the interior to make it look complete. Custom Auto Meter gauges were stuffed into a gorgeous woodgrained dashboard, ut the rest of the switchgear appears to be original, ncluding the steering column, ight switch, nd wiper controls. A small-diameter steering wheel captures the look of the original but feels a lot more connected to the front tires and those of you with sharp eyes will note that the cue ball shifter shows five forward gears instead of four (more on that in a moment). An under-dash AM/FM/CD stereo actually sounds decent, lthough the big six's soundtrack is arguably superior in every way. There's a nice-fitting top with a matching black boot, nd the trunk is deep and wide enough to actually be useful on road trips. The 2.5 liter inline-six gives the TR6 a great power-to-weight ratio, nd thanks to a recent rebuild with a few upgrades, t feels extremely strong on the road. An .040 overbore, orted cylinder head, oodparts intake with twin SU carburetors, big aluminum radiator, nd a Jaguar X-Type distributor are the more notable upgrades. It starts easily with a little choke and exhales through a tubular header and trick dual exhaust system with a single outlet in back. The transmission is a Toyota 5-speed powering a Goodparts rear CV conversion and Infiniti Q45 differential, o it's a fantastic highway cruiser with impressive agility, nd upgraded Toyota 4-piston disc brakes and finned drums from a 240Z give it better than adequate stopping power. Oversized 16-inch Konig alloy wheels have the look of vintage Minilites and carry stout 205/60/16 performance radials all around. This is the TR6 that you've been hoping for. All the fun of a British roadster with a host of upgrades that correct every weakness in the original design. Fast, un, nd very affordable, ou probably can't do better than this on a budget.
