Description for Triumph TR4 1963
Details :1963 Triumph TR4 Titled as a 1964 probably due to its original purchase date and registration.Vin # CT25725 L OEngine # CT58398ETrans # CT 58375Body # 25695 CTColors:Black exterior with red interior. Car has fairly new black carpeting which replaced the original dark grey carpets.
Additions or optional equipment :Luggage rackLucas "flamethrower" driving lights mounted on the front valence panelSpin on oil filter adaptorLucas reverse lights mounted on the trunk lid ( this is not an original option as far as I know)"Monza" rear mufflerBonnet (hood) modified for pins at some point. There is some evidence that the car was set up for rally or autocross use.
History:Purchased new in Buffalo NY at Mark Motors. car lived in Olean NY until 1986, hen it was sold and moved to Anderson SC with 31,386 miles on the odometerIn February of 1991, he car was sold again and moved to Sparta NJ with 36,202 miles In March of 2005, he current owner buys the car and brings it to Baltimore MD with 43,286 miles, where it has lived a pampered life and only traveled 2000 miles. Current mileage is 45,617.
Replacement parts over the years include the top and tonneau cover ( new in 1987), he carpet, nd the wheels( converted to wire wheels probably after 2003).
Condition:This car is mostly original. As would be expected, here is wear and tear. I have tried to show this in some of the photos. There is no evidence that I could find of any accidentdamage, ut I believe that the right side of the car was repainted at some point. The remaining paint appears to be original and you can see the badge from the dealer in NY.There is some rust at the bottom of the left front fender. The frame appears to be very straight and rust free. This car drives very well. Engine is smooth, airly quiet, ires right up, as good oil pressure ( 60 lbs. at 2000 rpms). Trans shifts up and down normally with an occasional snag downshifting to second ifhurried. Steering is true and fairly light even when parking. Everything inside works (horn, /s, auges, etc.
Overdrive:The chassis number of this car indicates that it should have an overdrive transmission ( the letter O at the end). However, he car does not have overdrive, nd there is no mention of it in any of the paperwork we have. I could not find any wiring for it either. A heritage certificatemight clarify this and I wouldrecommend that the buyer look into it.
