Description for Triumph TR4 1963
General: Most of the restoration and modifications were made to this 1963 TR4 in the 1980s. It's been trouble free for many years and is very powerful, but I've always treated it with respect mechanically. No burnouts, popped clutch, etc., as I've always felt that the differential and splined hubs were the weaker links to the drivetrain, and didn't want to destroy or damage those components. I'm obviously not a purist, and many changes were made to improve the character of the car. The body was removed from the frame and all rust was removed with new sheetmetal installed where necessary. It's virtually rust free and has been for many years, never driven in inclement weather. There are some minor paint chips from normal wear and tear. The wipers no longer work. The motor is fine but the "wheel boxes" need repair. (As an aficionado, I'm assuming you know what those are!) The transmission and shift linkage work fine, but pivots are worn there's some play in the linkage. Workshop manuals and complete records and receipts will be provided with the car. Now in my 70's, it's time to pass this Triumph on to someone perhaps more limber, but who appreciates a true sports car experience based on this beautiful Micholetti design! Mileage is unknown. Here a partial list of restoration items and modifications:
