Description for Triumph TR7 1979
Sadly, I have come to the conclution that when I have the time I won't have the money and when I have the money, I won't have to time to restore this Classic 1979 Triumph TR7 Convertible. I bought it in 2003 in Sacramento, trailered it home, started to work on it, bought lots of parts for it, installed a lot of them, even got to drive it around a little bit (It is one kick ass fun little ride!) and THEN....life kicked in and my poor baby just sat. Covered. In my garage. And now, I need the room for smaller, less time consuming projects............................................. OK, OK, bikes. Motorcycles. Geez, beat it outta me. Any way, It gots ta go.A few things about it:
* 2.0 Litre slant 4 engine
* Canary yellow
* New 13" tires with less than 500 miles on 'em (paid $350 for the set of four)
* 5 Speed manual trans - most had the 4 spd, the 5 spd was a pay to get extra
* NO RUST! NO RUST! NO RUST! not even in the boot behind the rear wheel.
* No major dings or dents. Since it was a California car, it has several small parking lot dings. Nothing major
* Has a new top ready to be installed (paid $325)
* Needs a little work. Will run if you feed it gas directly into the carbs. I think the floats are stuck.
* Interior: Black & what they call Bisquit (tan)
* Has new in dash stereo/cd player that needs to be installed. I started but, ran out of time.
* Has one small rock ding in the windshield. Easily filled.
* The car was purchased in Sacramento,CA. by a guy who had it for a while and then sold it to another individual
(17 Year old kid) who couldn't afford the payments and sold it to his mom who sold it to me.* Head gasket on original engine was failing so I swapped it out with a newer, lower mileage motor from a donor. If you really want it, you can have the original engine for $150.00 and whatever it costs to ship it so you can have all matching numbners. Engine only! no intake or exhaust manifolds, no transmission, no carbs, fan & fan clutch, radiator, etc., etc, etc.
I have most the maintenance records of when service was performed, what that service was, what it cost and a list of parts (if any) that were replaced. I also have the Haynes (I think, could be Chiltons I'll have to go look) repair manual for it and a copy of the Victoria British catalog of parts and goodies.
If you want to see what they look like restored and get some more info, try this URL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_TR7. Or Google: Images Triumph TR7
For an extra $150.00, you can have the four into one chromed exhaust header I paid $250 for. These are difficult to find. When you do find one, they're spendy.
You might also want to check out www.victoriabritish.com they have everything you will ever need for this car. If you buy my header, I suggest getting the Monza dual exhaust system. Looks good, sounds better.
If you're interested, I also have a pair of high back bucket racing seats with four point racing harnesses for $400.00 for the pair. They are brand new, never farted in.
I also have a spin on oil filter adapter. The original oil filter lived in a metal container that had to be removed to get to the filter and almost always had as much sludge in the bottom as the filter had in the paper fins. I'll toss in the NEW $40 adapter which has yet to be installed.
Honestly, this car won't need a ton of work. A paint job should definitly be in her future though. I have a notarized clean title ready to go. So, whatta ya say? Be a sport and give my baby a good home. You'll be glad you did when you drive it to the local car show and take first prize in the import catagory.
You've secretly always wanted one of these any way haven't you? Of course you have.
Oh yeah, one more thing. It has factory installed air conditioning! A/C was a fairly spendy option back then. It will need to be pressure tested and refilled with R12 refrigerant.
It just so happens I have enough R-12 on hand to do that; which, by the way, needs to be done by a licensed professional. $25 per can ($35+ on Ebay)
I'm asking $2500 or Best Offer. If you wave cash under my nose, who knows? (pun intended)
