Description for Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1977

Have you been driving your Lamborghini around and thought: 1. I really wish more people would slow down on the highway to photograph my car. 2. This thing is way too comfortable and practical? If so. I suggest you consider purchasing this 1977 VW beetle-based rat rod / apocalypse buggy. It gets more attention than any vehicle I have ever owned (including one completely covered in grafitti). and actually runs and drives as well as a jacked up VW beetle could be expected to. It may be hard to believe looking at it. but I have way more into this thing than the BIN price. and I didn't even do most of the customization. I bought it with:The epoxy coated rust patina. the custom chopped and shortened front end. welded on roof rack. road sign fenders. license plate inner fenders. welded on shovel intake scoops. brand new tires. and a bunch of other stuff. After purchasing it. I had the floors professionally replaced. the headlights (from some sort of 1920's truck) relocated to make them more functional & safer. all wiring redone. a bunch of extra signs added to "finish" the interior. seat frames custom covered with coffee bags. new heavy duty axels and a full tune-up. I also replaced the ignition switch & starter before determining that the real issue was a battery with some dead cells. So it now has a brand new battery as well. It starts. runs and drives fine. It's a standard 1600 engine. I'm not sure if it's original to the car. but at some point the fuel injection was swapped over to the earlier stock carb set-up. It has a cheap EMPI header with heat wrap. It's only a little over a year old. but fairly rusty. If I were keeping the car. I'd probably swap to a bigger carb and better exhaust for a little more power. but it cruises fine on the expressway. I do have a set of dell-orto's and manifolds we could negotiate if you want to go that route. It comes with a few extras for the next owner including a cool 1920's horn (very loud) and a cool big-rig style pull-chain switch to mount over the door. Look at the pics and ask any questions. It's a weird. but drivable car. I've done 500 miles in 2 days in 90 degree heat in it. and while it wasn't comfortable (it's pretty hot. and pretty loud in there). it started some great conversations with people of all ages. including some dudes from a 1%'er MC. It's a really fun car. If you're in the greater Chicago area. I'm happy to show it. If you're far away. I'm happy to work with your shipper. or hold it for a week or two. Unfortunately. we're likely selling our current home. and my realtor tells me rusty dune-buggy like vehicles are not on the top of most home-buyers list of required amenities. So buy this car!
