Description for Volkswagen Squareback 1969
Ok this is a 1969 Type 3 Squareback that has the top cut off professionally. My Dad purchased this vehicle 20 years ago like this. Unfortunatly he left it sit most of its life. He did have decals on it for His local business and only drove in parades. I bought it from Him last year and it was a mess. I removed all His decals and tried to touch up the paint that came off with the decals. This does need to be repainted. I can not find any spots where it has been bondoed. When I got it the rear floor boards were rsuted through and I have a Mechanice in South Carolina that rebuilt the floors out of 12 Guage steel. They actually look really good. You can see this in one of the pictures. The rest underneath is a little rusty but still solid. The motor I am not really for sure on. It has 2 Webber Progressive carbs on it. I had those cleaned completely and rebuilt. the rebuild kits were expensive. This has EMPI Heads and Valve Covers on it. My Mechanic took off covers and we replaced the valve springs. He had to special order them from someone in California who makes them because they were a larger size than anyone had. He said he saw parts in there that were billet made. We are not sure what all is inside but I know this runs stronger than the average VW motor. He said this was a heavy duty block. He converted the Points system into Electronic Ignition. He replace the Oil Cooler with a better one than what was on it. It has a Better Coil Pack than originaly on it. I can't remember everything that was done but I know the car runs and drives good. I am in Florida now and I have driven it to several VW shows. One of the members of the local club here said it needed valves adjusted but I have not had that done. It does run and drive and turn signals and headlight work. The speedometer is the only Gauge that works. The rest do no. The Dash lights do not work. I had a separate ignition put in because original does not work. This has a canvas top that was made for it. The tires are brand new with less that 300 miles on them. One wheel is mi9ssing spinner but I do have it. I just have to remove the wheel to put it on. There is a dent in back where my wife horse decided to back kick it. the rest of the body is in pretty good shape. Interior will need some work. I know fuel lines and a lot of cables have been replaced. The clutch is also new. This car is a very rare car and probably the only one like it around that has been cut this way. It does need A LOT of work but it is completely driveable. I really hate to sell it.THIS IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP IN OCALA FLORIDA. I WILL NOT SHIP. YOU ARE WELCOME TO SEND A TRANSPORTER TO PICK IT UP BU I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR IT ONCE IT LEAVES MY PROPERTY.
