Description for Volkswagen Cabrio 1988

She is a 1988 VW Cabriolet Karmann, n the classic Red & Cream combination.
She is a great car to drive and real head turner. There aren't many on the road and even less in her condition.
Her paint work is in amazing condition, onsidering her age and the California sunshine. You can see from the pictures that her hood still gleams. Yes there are a couple of grazes, rom previous owners, n the front bumper (which I have tried to show in the pictures), ut overall she gleams a beautiful apple red.
The roof. . . YES, ES, ES it 100% totally works. It takes little time and effort to put up and down. The roof is in great condition, here are some black blemishes, nd discoloring but although not 'as new' it has sustained the 27 years amazingly well.
Interior: All four seats are in great condition, ith no major color fading or wear and tear. The driver's side chair mechanism to fold forward has stopped working, t is fixable, ut the passenger side works great.
So how does she run. . . when warm, he is a great little runner. You just need to give her a minute to get warmed up, usually start her with my foot relaxed on the gas pedal, ait 30 seconds and then she is pretty much ready to go. She is a solid little car and handles very well. She can 'stutter' mainly when at 2K revs a couple of times, nd although I don't feel it is a problem, feel only fair to mention. . .. she doesn't purr. . . she roars but coughs.
Stereo: The original stereo has been replaced by a pioneer CD player, am not sure if the speakers are original. . .. But they sound great!
Things I have replaced and work done on her.
New 5 speed transmission: February 2014
New clutch: February 2014
New Fuel Distributor: February 2014
Since owning her I have also replaced:
O2 Sensor,Battery,
Oil filter,
Air filter
Spark plugs
Shifter bushing kit
Fuel pump relay
and an Oil Change
Problems:
Dint in front nearside wing: this was already there on the car when I bought her. Little to no rust sowing where the pain has come off, houldn't cost too much to repair and damage is just one panel if you wanted to replace. I have a new indicator light to be fitted.
Drivers door handle is loose: the lock works perfect, ut doesn't open the door. The handle just needs to be attached firmly.
Blower; this is a gentle puff of air, o I always just open the windows. The heater does work enough to de-mist your windows, hould you need to and she has rear window de-mister still works ☺
Odometer: I noticed the mile counter wasn't working recently. After looking into it, his is a frequent problem on the cabriolet. There are lots of advice online guides on how to fix it.
Engine: as previously noted, he takes a couple of minutes to warm up, ut once warm she is a great car. She can stutter, ut is 27 years old, o I don't 'put my foot down'.
Drivers Seat: As previously noted the driver's side chair mechanism to fold forward has stopped working, t is fixable, ut the passenger side works great.
The starting price reflects these flaws, therwise she would be priced around $5,000+ and therefore she is a bargain to be had! I also have a Haynes Manual and a couple of parts which I will include in the sale.
